SivartM Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 This is just going to degenerate into an argument about naive I am, but at least nobody can complain because it's not Adventist. http://adventistpeace.typepad.com/peacemessenger/2010/06/sign-the-adventist-peacemaker-pledge.html Quote: Joining fellow believers worldwide in covenanting to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Christ, I hereby pledge: To decline all participation in acts of war and bloodshed as being inconsistent with the love for enemies and all humankind enjoined upon us by our Lord Jesus Christ; To be a peacemaker, following the way of the Prince of Peace through the power of the Holy Spirit. Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." - Jesus
karl Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 At my age, all I can do is take the Pacemaker Pledge. But I am opposed to violence of all kinds except for those pretty African Violence flowers my mother grows. Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 22, 2010 Members Posted June 22, 2010 all I can do is take the Pacemaker Pledge at least we won't have to worry if you have cardiac arrhythmia... (tic) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Members phkrause Posted June 22, 2010 Members Posted June 22, 2010 Have no problem with your post, but it needs to include the way that we speak to each other. Sometimes, if not most of the time, the war of words is more damaging than any gun, knife, fist, etc. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
SivartM Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 That's why it includes this: Quote: To be a peacemaker, following the way of the Prince of Peace through the power of the Holy Spirit. Of course, I didn't write this. :) Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." - Jesus
aldona Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I discovered this group a while back and I'm on their regular email update list. It gives me hope on those days when I read the threads on the forum and think I'm the only Adventist who doesn't support war and guns and killing.
