Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 22, 2010 Members Posted June 22, 2010 Oregon and Washington have passed laws now prohibiting the use of cell phones while driving, unless you have a hands-free device. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

SivartM Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I never text while driving. Mostly because my parents had the phone company turn off texting on our phones (not because I texted too much, but because it costs too much), and because it's illegal for someone on a learner's permit to use a cell phone while driving. BUT even when I do have a license and my own phone plan, I won't text while driving, because... it's sort of dumb. Moderators Bravus Posted June 22, 2010 Moderators Posted June 22, 2010 Love the sign - it will be shared! As a motorcyclist, if I see someone do something dangerous to me or others on the road, 90% of the time they will have a phone in their hand, either talking or texting. Quote Truth is important
Administrators Gail Posted June 22, 2010 Administrators Posted June 22, 2010 It is illegal here, too. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
GreatLakesGramma Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I don't know if it's illegal here, but if it isn't, it should be. By the way, I just talked to my out of state daughter on the phone. She said that the one things she really misses about Michigan is sharing the road with people who actually know how to drive. She says they are terrible where she is. When I moved here from NY that's the first thing I noticed, and that was 37 years ago, and they haven't gotten any better. Dr. Shane Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Our conference evangelist was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a woman driving 55 mph and texting. The mirror of the car hit him in the head. His head (with helmet) bounced off her passenger window and broke it. He was rushed to the hospital in a helicopter and they discovered he didn't have any broken bones. This was just a few weeks ago. GreatLakesGramma Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I hope they arrested the driver. PK, my daughter didn't say they're the worst. She's not in Mass.
