We are establishing a global movement to encourage deeper Christian commitment to the poor, and to speak out to leaders to act with justice. Dr. Shane Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I think the church is ahead of the game here. ADRA works with governments all over the world to get grants to help the poor. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
fccool Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I'm with Shane on that one. Our job is help the poor. Governments should do their job of maintaining social order, and maintaining sound financial system. The poverty in the third world results exactly due to local governmental policies to open up their markets too soon. A certain degree of protection is necessary until local markets are mature and able to compete in the world economy... otherwise these are open to exploitation of labor and natural resources that these countries are not experience. There's no hope for growth in these conditions. Some good historic examples would be Japan and South Korea... and now China. Quote
SivartM Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 Okay. I'll just let ADRA do all the work. What a relief. I almost got involved. Members phkrause Posted July 7, 2010 Members Posted July 7, 2010 Okay. I'll just let ADRA do all the work. What a relief. I almost got involved. I think Shane was only saying that ADRA is doing a great job, that you can also work for them if you want. And ADRA doesn't do all the work, there are many organizations that do there part.
