Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 9, 2010 Members Posted July 9, 2010 I've never had problems with iTunes either.... but just last week they sent a notice to download an update - I did that, and still works fine. Neil D Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 I have an Athlon processor 1600 1.4 Ghz 512 meg of Ram When I run the Windows task manager, under the performance tab, CPU Usage goes to 100% and the Page File Usage History goes UP and tops out. I have 523760 total Physicial Memory (k) and the system Cache is at 128248 I downloaded Itune 9 and the computer freezes up when I am using a podcast. I download NBC nightly news and this podcast tends to echo abit, then the video stops the feed while I get audio for about 3-4 mins and then that stops too....'puter freezes up.... Does any of that help with what's going on with this patient, Doctor? [smile] Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 9, 2010 Members Posted July 9, 2010 the iTunes update was iTunes 9.2 (61) ... what does your computer read for your iTunes version? SivartM Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 If all you need is podcasts, a good podcast receiver and player is Ziepod: http://ziepod.com/ If you want to listen to music also, a good media player is Songbird (which doesn't do podcasts as far as I know, but has a lot of other features and is in my opinion better than iTunes): http://getsongbird.com/ Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Neil D Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 Perhaps I am missing something else...I thought that podcasts not only included audio, but video as well? I was hopeing to get both..... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Liz Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 If you are running XP for best results get two gb of RAM. If you are running vista three gb of RAM. And yes, podcasts include audio and video. SivartM Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Oh, I forgot one that can play video and audio podcasts, Miro: http://getmiro.com Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Neil D Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 Ok, someday soon, I'll get more Ram.... In the mean time, thanks for turning me onto Miro...it's nice and easier than Itunes to manuver around... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.
