D. Allan Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 My Dad is 93 and says that he is "ready to go." He is just trying to hold on until July 31st. That will be Mom and Dad's 70th wedding anniversary! Amelia Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I will pray also. I'm going through the same thing with my poppy. He has said he is only staying around to live longer than his father, then he will go. I have told him I'm not ready for that so you have to stay longer. Rondo Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I heard once that sorrow is for the living. Especially when they are right with their Lord and ready for the transition. We are left with (just) memories and can no longer touch or hug. Who are we crying for? I pray he see his 70 wedding anniversary, but sounds like he has made peace with his Lord. Quote The 10 essence of Old Covenant
D. Allan Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Yes, you are right Rondo. Sorrow is for the living - Dad's ready - I'm not ready to lose him. But it is something we all have to face and accept when the time comes. Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
D. Allan Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 He is in the ICU this morning with bleeding. He needs surgery, but is too weak and frail to undergo it. They are trying to keep him comfortable. Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Moderators John317 Posted August 27, 2010 Moderators Posted August 27, 2010 I'm praying for you and your dad, D Allen, and for the medical team taking care of him. I'm also praying that God will give you strength and loving people to support you. I know how very difficult and painful it is, but I know, too, that God is there for us when we need Him most. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
D. Allan Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Thank you, Gail and John3:16. They have decided to give him some tests to see if they can fix things up without being too invasive. I just pray that he will have peace. They are keeping his pain under control. Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

ChildofChrist Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I was glad to spot this update. It's difficult to lose a father and harder to lose a Dad! I lost mine over 9 years ago and I still miss him. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that when the Lord lets him rest, that you will find peace with it and know it is just a short time before the Lord will come to call His children home. I can hardly wait. ~K Quote Wakan Tanka Kici Un ~~Child of Christ~~
