In His Arms

He held me in His arms that night. Gently lifting me from my bed, He set me on His lap, pressing my head to His breast, rocking back and forth like a mother comforting her sick child.

I felt I was lying on the hot desert sand. Soft winds only sent waves of heat over my body.

I heard soft conversation but could not see them. I knew that Jesus had unstopped my ears and I could hear angels.

The morning birds had begun to practice their trills. They were above me and when I bent my head up to see them, there was a large open window. The poplar tree leaves began to scratch each other from an early morning breeze. The sound brought back happy childhood memories.

"Father", I prayed, "don't let me wake up. Please let me stay here in this dream." Suddenly a coolness washed over me, with droplets of water that made a tingling sound as they burst on my face. I awoke and my hair and body were soaked.

"The fever has broken", I said to the angel in white who had not left my bedside all night.

"I know", she smiled as she continued her labor in love. Blood pressure, pulse, temperature, antibiotics, IV fluids__checking over and over, pausing to read by a night light so as not to awaken me from my short sleep.

We talked off and on through the night, and I felt as close to her as a sister.

"Please, may I tell you my dream?.", I asked her.

"Sure!", she replied.

I told her all, and then added, "I believe Jesus gave me that dream."

"So do I!", she replied, and added, "You really needed it."

There was more fever and pain. The infection ranted and raved on. But I had nothing to fear. Nothing to dread. All I needed to do was close my eyes and relive in my memory the night Jesus held me in His arms.

Prologue: Now you can see why God gave me the wife I have to this day.

"Behold, I go to prepare a place for you,..... that where I am there you may be also."

John 14:3 NKJV
