Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 20, 2010 Members Posted July 20, 2010 I am puzzled. Today in the neighborhood, a hearse with a casket inside was driving down one of the cross streets. It was not a main thoroughfare road. There were no cars following it, as for a funeral. The driver was going the speed limit, not sedately. The road didn't lead to a cemetery. It sounds kind of gross to me - having a dead person in a casket in your living room for a bunch of people to come in and view. One of my brothers however, has always said he wants to be mechanically rigged up, so that when people move in front of him, his eyes will open and he waves. My cousin took pictures of my aunt in her casket and sent them to me. And my mom has a picture of her grandfather in his casket. Kinda grosses me out. A friend of mine worked as a transporter to take bodies from the morgue to the mortuary. One night he picked up a body, and while he was getting ready to drive away, the body suddenly sat bolt upright. It scared the bejabbers out of my friend. Maybe it won't seem so weird if it is remembered that it is a dead body, not a dead person. Although I seem to remember a movie in which the previews had a newly decapitated horse's head in bed with them, and upon awakening it had the affect of grossing them out. I can accept that.
