Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 1, 2010 Members Posted August 1, 2010 If you had the opportunity to spend 3 hours one-on-one with any living person today, who would it be? Why? I would choose my brother, because he's one of the most gifted astute persons I've ever known. And I would love to talk with him without anyone else around. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Moderators Bravus Posted August 1, 2010 Moderators Posted August 1, 2010 I think Terry Pratchett would be near the top of my list. I mean, my wife too, of course, but we *do* get to talk pretty regularly... Quote Truth is important
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 That would be very, very hard for me to decide. Since two of my three adult children have moved out of state, with several states between us, and none of us has the money to travel, I have one daughter, 2 granddaughters, and one son I long to see and spend time with. It would be very hard to choose any one of them over the others. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. SivartM Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Hm... that's a hard one... Jan Paulsen, maybe. Guest Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I saw one of my old heroes, C.D. Brooks talk yesterday in Kernersville NC. I wouldn't mind chatting with him for a while. He's still pretty sharp to be 80. I have always loved to hear him preach. Quote
doug yowell Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 C.D.Brooks is hot!!Oratorically speaking. Quote
Members phkrause Posted August 1, 2010 Members Posted August 1, 2010 I have quite a number of people I'd like to talk to, my father (all about the holocaust), and some others, but my first pick would be Jesus, because he has all the answers. :) Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Is Jesus one of the options here? If so, I think we'd have to pick a number in order to get on His schedule. Quote

My father was just opening up about it, he never talked about it much. It wasn't until he died that my wife started to look into his ancestry. My Mom tried filling us in with what she knew, which wasn't very much. As far as Jesus is concerned, the question for the thread is "Who would you choose?" So I chose him and if there is a line I'm willing to wait. :) Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

jasd Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 QR frame: >>If you had the opportunity to spend 3 hours one-on-one with any living person today,<< I’m taking the liberty of doing this one, as Emily Dickinson would say, on the slant. I would rather spend three hours talking with my mother, ‘deceased’ now for ten years – than with anyone else, as I know she’s alive and on the other ‘side’ – with the Lord and with heavenly beings. I’d like to ask how things are on the other side – if she travels around the universe in a craft or transports by thought; if there is more than fruit and manna on the dinner table; if she has already started with those ballet lessons she’s always wanted; if she knows the numbers of next week’s Power Ball lottery (and if she’d tell me); if the only time she’s sad is when she dwells upon my life (or if that’s allowed); I’ll tease and suggest that those wings look like scorched leather and ask if she’s really my mum; ETC... Perhaps, I’ll get lucky – and with a cloud of angels tah hie me off – see for myself, one day... Otherwise, I’d like to chat it up with, y’know, the Lilith. Oy va! Quote
Members abelisle Posted August 2, 2010 Members Posted August 2, 2010 ". . . the Lilith, eh?" Be careful, she bites you know and I think she wears a cloak of inscrutability? Wonder what Emily would think? She too was inscrutable in her own poetic way. Quote We are our worst enemy - sad but true. http://abelisle.blogspot.com
