Stan Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I think Fox News is an insult to Journalism SO WHAT???? I think Preachers who substitute volume for content are strange... SO WHAT??? I think Amazing Discoveries is insulting the SDA Church when they say they are sponsored by such. SO WHAT???? I think if a person would appreciate and AMEN rather than CLAPPING we should respect that.. SO WHAT???? I think if a person wants to leave "The Church" for theological reasons, they should follow through.... SO WHAT???? I think GWB, and his team, acted like they were the World's Self Appointed Dictator... SO WHAT???? I think most of the folks who complain about EGW have not read her writings for years. SO WHAT???? I think if someone disagrees with me they can, SO WHAT???? I think a lot of other things, but SO WHAT???? Does anyone get what I am saying... all they are are thoughts.. LifeHiscost Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Sooooo!!!! it pays to sometimes turn off the plethora of ideas, which could be described as Babylon (confusion) and rest in a study of the Word, which continues to proclaim the joy of living for and with Jesus, the Christ, through the power of His Holy Spirit . "“ And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions."Joel 2:28 NKJV "‘ And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams." Acts 2:17 NKJV Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

GreatLakesGramma Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I have considered quitting here a number of times because of all the hostile arguments. I prefer respectful discussions, but they never seem to stay that way here. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Outta Here Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 The whole premise for an Internet forum is to share ideas and opinions. If the attitude we are to take regarding others' ideas and opinions is "So what?", then why is there a need for a forum such as this? I understand the need to remind ourselves not to get too worked up about others' opinions, and to remind ourselves that indeed, they are just opinions, but to give them absolutely no regard makes no sense to me. I understand the need to remind ourselves not to get too worked up about others' opinions, and to remind ourselves that indeed, they are just opinions, but to give them absolutely no regard makes no sense to me. I'm kind of in between "so what!" and "now what!". I'm reminded of a politically charged email I received, of which I was largely in agreement with, but in the present social atmosphere of the United States it was definitely politically incorrect. Especially for certain religious organizations. So I called the individual who had sent it to let them know my position. After spending a measure of time discussing the issue and giving my opinion, the person who sent the email graciously said, "Well, there's always the delete button". I've heard and agree with the comment, "It is the Holy Spirits' responsibility to convict (convince) the mind and heart". Sometimes our effort to change the mind of others can only be achieved by standing back and letting the Holy Spirit do His work, and to interfere with His timing only causes greater effort on the part of the unbeliever to flee from what they believe causes the discomfort. Unless one is already convinced of their discipleship, it is not easy to accept a yoke not believed to be helpful. "“Gather My saints together to Me,Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”" Psalm 50:5 NKJV Blessings!! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

I think you're missing the point Aubrey. Take it in the context of the way so many discussions end up going around here. As I understand it, what you've said is exactly what Stan is saying. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Outta Here Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 It probably is the exact same thing Stan is saying, but at the same time, it's also the complete opposite. We can't say that someone else's opinion doesn't matter while expecting our own opinion to matter. Contrariwise, if we don't think our opinion matters, then how could we atribute any value to someone else's opinion. In the end, it is all "just opinion." However, in the end, opinions (which are beliefs and values that drive our actions) are the only thing that really matter. *Just thinking aloud here. Forming my own thoughs on this matter--even as I write them. Quote

GreatLakesGramma Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Rondo, you are missing Stan's point. He's just saying that there is no value in starting a huge fight over those kinds of issues. He did not say that any of those are his own personal point of view, but those are the very issues that cause the fur to fly every single time they are brought up here.
