Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 7, 2010 Members Posted August 7, 2010 uh, huh. Medicare recipients did not get a cost of living increase this year, nor will they get one next year. Congress members gave themselves a raise, however. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Congress members gave themselves a raise, however. So nice to know. I'm sure, speaking as a medicare beneficiary, the congress members have little on their plate at meal time. Yeah, right! But then if one puts their life in God's hands, it helps to mollify greatly, the disappointments of life. "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"Romans 8:31 NKJV Joy!! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

Members phkrause Posted August 7, 2010 Author Members Posted August 7, 2010 And my esteem for congressmen was already at an all time low! And now a raise for themselves while the rest don't even get crumbs! My esteem for them went downhill many years ago. Especially when one congressmen was asked about voting on a bill and all he wanted to know was which side was bringing this to the house, if it was a demo he was not going to vote for it and if it was for the repubs he would vote yes. Than he asked what the bill was!!!! Imagine he didn't even know what it was for. That tells me a lot about what either side is all about. As far as giving themselves a raise, I believe I mentioned that on another thread. Pretty sick if you ask me. I also was saying that I thought these guys should have limits on how long they can stay in office. I will believe the twelve years when I see it Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I doubt that most employed persons got cost of living increases this year either. Most of them around here are just thankful to have a job at all. Maybe seniors need to be thankful too, that there still is Social Security for them to get. Husband and I aren't expecting there will be any Social Security by the time we get there, because nobody is willing to do what it takes to stop the government's downward slide toward complete financial insolvency. All we get from them is pretty words and empty promises of a balanced budget, while the deficit continues to snowball. Of course our state and national ruling elite make sure they get increases right along no matter what the rest of us have to live with/on, or what the budget looks like. But locally, our county board of commissioners voted themselves a pay cut this year. It kind of makes me wonder though, that they did it just before the Primary. In our county, the Republican primary is the only real local election. Whoever wins the Republican primary is IT. So we already know who our county commissioners are going to be next year. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Members phkrause Posted August 7, 2010 Author Members Posted August 7, 2010 I do agree with most of what your saying. Not so sure about SS. I've been hearing this for so many years, not really sure what to believe there. Because no one is telling us the truth about what's there or not. I've been hearing this for so many years, not really sure what to believe there. Because no one is telling us the truth about what's there or not. They always have the printing presses. Although it might be wise to buy a wheelbarrow now so you'll have something to carry the paper in to buy a loaf of bread when the time comes. Quote Lift Jesus up!!
