I think I might get in a bit of a panic if nobody ever disagreed with me...

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Stan, how do you know people go through panic moments if someone disagrees with them? Has it happened to you, or has someone told you about going through it?

Every wondered why some go through panic moments if someone disagrees with them?

I think one reason this comes up with dialog about god is that for many Christians the penalty for being wrong is eternal hell fire or at the very least some tortuous death in a lake of fire.

In my journey the fear of being cast out of favor with god was a whole body reaction that was conditioned into me from birth. So I can understand when reasonable views begin to demolish the security of being "right." It feels exactly like panic. Fortunately there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I have been fortunate enough to have the right people come into my life to help me base my belief on evidence rather than on the fears of others.

I am thankful to be free of that and it has taught me that I will never let anyone teach me fear like that again.

That's sad to hear cardw. I also grew up with hearing about that kind of fear, panic, etc., but than I got to know that God that many think is at the root of that, in the Man Jesus Christ, I no longer have that fear.

I grew up in fear myself, but it was only when I came to know God as my very best friend that I lost that fear.

I don't doubt you.

I don't have that fear and I have no need of Jesus Christ.

I believe in a deeper connection with life and if you need to give it a name I can understand that.

The problem with the name Jesus Christ for me is that it is loaded with all kinds of obligations and threats that are clearly outlined in both the Bible and Ellen White.

It appears that you can function quite well despite this, but I cannot.

The perfection and assurance does not come to me from personal exploits, but from trusting in the Man Who is perfect and has promised my future is dependent upon His perfection that He is willing to give me when I do not resist Him.

This means nothing. It is one long string of cliches.

And since I don't fear any longer, love must be perfected.

When one is at last in the midst of seeing the cliches become observable realities, even to the most dense of minds, it will be too late to change one's mind.

And if you see only useless garbage in the forum, why is it you enjoy spending time in the garbage dump. Seems to express a taste for sewage.

"So why do you condemn.. (A).. believer? Why do you look down on..(A).. believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say,

“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,

‘every knee will bend to me,

and every tongue will confess and give praise to God.’”

Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God." Romans 14:10-12 NLT parenthesis mine LHC

"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." I have found that when we come to know the truth, we truly know God. It is the evil one who presents God and His Son as loaded with all kinds of obligations and threats. The God I know says things like:

Blessed are:

the poor in spirit,

those who mourn,

the gentle,

who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

the merciful,

the pure in heart,

the peace makers,...

Come to Me all you who are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

I can relate. Mainstream Christianity and even mainstream adventism preach a God who is no better than Nebuchadnezzar.

Bow down, or else you get the fiery furnace. Worship me or you get the lake of fire.

I don't see that guys, am not saying that you don't but I don't. Sure I think while growing up many pastors preached with the purpose of giving you a guilt trip, etc. And am not saying that that doesn't effect your thinking. But like I mentioned before, that was way before I really met Jesus for myself and not through the eyes of others. Each one has to see, hear, and experience him for themselves.

Don't put more severity on my words than is there. This assumption that everyone else places a black and white value on the world seems to be a Christian tendency. Or in your case everything is either pure living water or sewage.

I said it is meaningless. And, rather than explaining the meaning, the trend here is to deflect or quote some other meaningless scripture as if that explains everything. My guess is that no one really knows what any of this means.

I think what I am talking about is for example Uncle Arthur's Bedtime stories and the Maxwell Bible Stories series. The reward punishment model in these was clear. And you would find in the Bible Stories a gloss over of all the slaughter in the Bible to make it acceptable and seem like it was all so reasonable.

These are the more subtle influences that appear to me to be very Orwellian in nature. I find these to be far more harmful than the blatant angry threats of Christian teachers and Pastors.

You may follow a peaceful and loving path and you seem to get it from a highly censored Biblical understanding. Basically only considering those passages that reveal what we accept today are proper ethical behavior and ignoring the genocidal maniacal orders from the "cultural" distorted words of god.

God has blessed you, PK, above some of your brothers, who see the Christian walk as a religion instead of a walk with Someone Who has been more maligned than any man on earth, knew that it was going to happen before it came to pass, and was still willing to give His life under the most brutal circumstances, that the most vitriolic who have only Him to thank for any of the pleasures they have in life, would still have hope of receiving all of His most outstanding gifts.

"Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? says the Lord, and not rather that he should turn from his evil way and return [to his God] and live." Ezekiel 18:23 AMP

"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. " Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

It is the unwillingness to humble ourselves to admit our true condition that allows some to deny the true character of a Father that would love His creatures so much as to allow His only begotten Son for those so undeserving.

"“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked.Who really knows how bad it is?" Jeremiah 17:9 NLT
