I don't think there's an option to "unlike" people on Facebook. That being said, I most certainly have removed many people from my "friends" connections.

Hi Aubrey. I was referring to how you can like someone's comment. And they later ... you can 'unlike' it. You can do the same for someone picture. So, if you liked my photo ... later you could 'unlike' it. And I just hate being 'unliked'. I also hate being 'unfriended' like you say you have done to people. lol

Oh! Yes, I've unliked things I've liked before too.

Sorry you dislike being unfriended. Usually I unfriend people who I find out later to be crass, who use facebook as a political or religious soapbox, or who are otherwise too lenient on making things public that should be kept be private.

My wife has done that to quite a few of her fb friends. She just removed them as friends, all they did was say crass words and talk about going out to drink and get drunk.

I don't know from personal experience. I've never been unliked or unfriended. What I meant to say is that I would not like for that to happen to me.

The older I get ... the more I value friendships. I hate losing friends. There are many old friends that I've just lost contact. FB has helped. But there are still more out there.

I've only unfriended one person, who kept swearing in every status, and we hadn't really talked in years anyway.

I have been unfriended by several people. The only one who told me why was an Adventist girl I became friends with on another forum, and she eventually unfriended me because... she had a boyfriend... or something... so she quit using all social networking (she didn't tell me that until I asked months later). Or something like that. And now she's apparently back on Facebook and talking to other guys she met online. I'm not going to try adding her again... *sigh* People can be really weird sometimes...

I don't know if anyone has ever "unliked" anything I've posted, because I don't check up on those once I've read them. Or do you get a message telling you the've unliked something? I've never gotten a message like that.

I have been removed from husband's nephew's friend list, or at least, he is no longer on mine, and I didn't take him off. I'm pretty sure I never said anything that he would have found offensive. He may have just decided he had too many people on his list & wanted to pare it down to only close friends. I'm not going to ask him. I wouldn't want to put him on the spot. His wife is still on my friends list.

The only one I have hidden from my view is the guy who posts something every 15 minutes.

I thought unfriending was an anonymous exercise. I didn't know there was a way to find out who has unfriended you.

I don't think you know when someone unfriends you unless you notice they are no longer on your friends list, because it does take them off your friend list. But unless you are really keeping close track and remember everyone on your list, you may never notice when one goes missing.

I have gotten friend requests from people I hardly know that I have politely accepted so as not to offend them. If I have had no interaction with them and/or they have shown very little fb activity I have unfriended them later. I also unfriended someone I strongly suspected of being just a snoop with ulterior motives. I also routinely block the fb game and contest posts. I really do not care to know when someone gets a hug from their pigs on Farmville. You can really unclutter your Wall by blocking such things.

Facebook is really nice and I've enjoyed it --- and actually gotten in touch with people I went to school with, etc.....BUT....like real-life, I think Facebook is only good as long as you are careful what you allow on your page. Facebook is fun when you can read about what people are doing, see pics of their family, etc....but when they use it wrong, it's no longer fun. That's when you click people off or "hide them" from your page. The political and religious mis-uses are the worst. Then there is Farmville !! LOL. ( I hate that stuff ). But, I really do like the social connections that Facebook provides and the ability to share things.

It's not only Farmville. It's all their sisters and brothers. I am constanting deleting all that garbage. Is there an option to refuse ALL of them instead of each one?

I believe if you go to your account's privacy settings, you can check to refuse all applications, games, and websites from your page. I think that will do it. You can select which applications you want to use if you currently use any, or you can refuse all applications.

I have managed to block Farmville and associated events, much to my relief...and occasionally refused to befriend someone (as in my exbrotherinlaw as it would upset my sister) but usually on FB I am my usual easygoing, laidback self :).

I don't get much of the game announcements and that is strange since I play a few of them. But yeah, I would turn them off if they were getting to me.

I've had an awesome experience on FB! I've MET people from all over the world, not only have kept in touch with classmates and relatives.

I block all games and quizzes as they come up, because otherwise, it's hard to find the real life news among all the game and quiz announcements. Some of my friends seem to spend an awful lot of time on those things.

I joined Facebook to more easily keep in touch with friends and family I already have, not to make new friends. My address and phone number, as well as names and photos of my family members, are there, but only because I am able to restrict them to be seen by friends only. I don't want people I don't know, some of whom may be pedophiles, looking at my granddaughters' photos. I do have a few friends I met online added, but only those I've known long enough to be convinced that I can trust them.

I definitely do not accept anyone I don't know personally as a Facebook friend. I had one guy try 3 or 4 times to "friend" me, and I finally blocked him and reported that I didn't know him. I have never met him or even heard of him, he doesn't live in my state, he had no friends, groups, or pages in common with me, and I have no idea why he would want to add me. At this point, I don't even have any school classmates, because none who I was ever close to are on Facebook.

Maybe someday I'll decided I have time to keep up with casual acquaintances too, and then I will probably remove the family photos. But for now it's all I can do to keep up with the posts of friends I already have added. Even at that, I don't think I'm getting everything they're posting, and I don't have time to check everyone's wall. I just read the news feed and status updates that come up on my own home page.

I usually ask them if we know each other and if they don't reply back within a few days I just ignore them.
