Twilight Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I have begun to realise quite recently that we are living in a pagan society. I used to think it was an atheistic society, but that is merely a mask as athiesm follows the pagan doctrines of the world. Here are some pagan doctrines currently espoused: 1. Homosexuality is ok. 2. Child sacrifice is ok. (Abortion - the taking of a childs life to provide gain for the parent) 3. Polygamy is ok - multiple partners are acceptable. 4. Idolatry is ok - worship anything but the Creator God. The more I think about it, the more I see it. If you can think of any more "pagan" doctrines that society has adopted, please post them below. Your thoughts? Mark Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
skyblue888 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Earning the favor of God or of the gods through creature merits. This pagan doctrine is at the very heart of every false religion, all the religions of the world. sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 17, 2010 Members Posted August 17, 2010 Pagans have been around since before Christianity. They've never gone away...you just aren't/haven't been aware of them because they blend in with society so easily. Also, pagans don't actively proselytize, and they aren't "in your face" with what they believe. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Twilight Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Paganism was introduced in the garden of Eden. There is only one religion older. That is Christianity... Man followed God before he followed false gods. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Administrators Gail Posted August 17, 2010 Administrators Posted August 17, 2010 There is more "worship" to society than what secularism would have us believe! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted August 17, 2010 Members Posted August 17, 2010 Paganism was introduced in the garden of Eden. There is only one religion older. That is Christianity... Man followed God before he followed false gods. Formal Christianity didn't start until after the Son of God became human and died on the cross. Religion per se did not start in the Garden of Eden, imho. Quote: Christ Pronunciation: \ˈkrīst\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle English Crist, from Old English, from Latin Christus, from Greek Christos, literally, anointed, from chriein Date: before 12th century Jesus was not known as "Christ" until milleniums after the Garden of Eden. Of course, I might be wrong in your eyes. Semantics is a funny - what someone means when they talk of Christianity may not be the same as what someone else thinks it means. Twilight Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Religion is the worship of a deity or spiritual being in its broadest sense. Christianity was Christianity in the garden of Eden. Christ was the centre of worship, it just wasn't labelled "Christianity" then. But it was the same worship of the same God. Paganism is the worship of satan in all its subtle forms in a general sense. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
SivartM Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Hm, God didn't seem to have many problems with polygamy in the Old Testament... Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." - Jesus
Twilight Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Hm, God didn't seem to have many problems with polygamy in the Old Testament... Really? What gave you that idea? Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 I cannot think of a single instance where God condoned polygamy on the OT? Have I missed something? Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Guest Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 They've never gone away...you just aren't/haven't been aware of them because they blend in with society so easily. Also, pagans don't actively proselytize, and they aren't "in your face" with what they believe. That's true, I think. They are not actively in your face in most cases, but paganism is. It's everywhere. It's all over the tv, it's in the music we hear wherever we go. And pagan symbolism is worn in a lot of the jewelry by professed Christians the world over, and they don't even know it. As far as when Christianity began, it was the same Jesus dealing with man from the very beginning. They just didn't know him by that name. But Jesus said: Joh 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Quote

Indeed, Jesus was there from the beginning: Jhn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jhn 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. Jhn 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Worship was established in the Garden of Eden, with the creation of the Sabbath. It was only when Eve was tempted by satan at the tree, that paganism reared its ugly head... Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
