This is why you wear snake boots. Of course, if that thing struck you, it could break bones. This guy was out looking for hogs in Georgia with his shotgun. Heard a rattle and his first instinct was to point and shoot. The snake was about 6’2”. Look at the head on that thing!!! Eastern Diamondback…

My dad killed a diamondback in his back yard near Ft. Myers, FL, some years ago. He skinned it and hung it from the ceiling of his patio. Probably as long as the one in the picture, but definitely not as well fed...

I killed one in my tool shed in S. Cal some years ago. It was almost 5 ft long. A pair of pack rats had nested in the shed and really made a mess. All kinds of stuff they brought into it - leaves, sticks, even dried dung. I had been wondering why they never had babies, until I saw the rattle snake.

The only good rattlesnake is a dead rattlesnake!

That's the way I feel about Copperheads pretty much. NC has more Copperheads than any other state in the country. Put that with living right beside the Yadkin River, and you can multiply that times five. I'm lousy with copperheads. They bite my dogs, and my neighbor's dogs, they try to bite me, one day I came home just in time to catch one slithering into Mr. Murphy's pen. I dispatched him with a shovel. The other night me and MM were coming back from our midnight walk, and came upon one in the driveway. I've been killing them around here for 23 years, but don't seem to be making any headway.

Yes. The explanation I've heard is the poisonous frogs they have there.

This photo looks doctored.....Anyone got a report that this might be faked?

So if a snake eats a poisonous frog, he will be kilt???

WELL that is some big snake

Yes it is dgrimm. Copperheads don't as big as rattlers, but we've got some record breaking copperheads around here. I've seen em.

I'm glad I don't live where you do. We only have rattlesnakes, and the least poisonous and least aggressive kind at that.

While an occasional rattle snake is not too far away, we basicly have just small garden and grass snakes. I was still terrorfied of them as a child, but have come to respect them, and have not seen many lately.

As to Hawaii, I remember in the 1990s I use to fly there a lot and there warnings and posters about some who illegally smuggled in some poisonus tree snakes that were causing havic, eating the native animals and having no preditors, I hope that they got them under control.
