Dr. Shane Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Pastor John Carter asks a question. Who wants to be President of the United States when you can preach the gospel? Which would you rather be? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Members phkrause Posted August 21, 2010 Members Posted August 21, 2010 Interesting question Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Outta Here Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Seems to me, it doesn't really matter which one we'd chose, as both are called to serve by God. Romans 13:1 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 I'd rather be whatever God calls me to be. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
fccool Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Neither one is more important than other, granted that both are Christian men. It would be a mistake to say that a Preacher's job is more important than that of Christian plumber. Likewise, a President's life should never be valued more than life of people. That's the fundamental fallacy of statism and Christian oligarchy. Quote
Outta Here Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Which opinion is more valuable--a president's, preacher's, or plumber's--when the issue is not one of "expertise" in any of those fields? Quote
fccool Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Are we value person by their opinions, or by the mere fact that they are human? Quote
Dr. Shane Posted August 22, 2010 Author Posted August 22, 2010 I think the point was that being a preacher brings about more job satisfaction than being President of the United States. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
fccool Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I don't really think that it should. Do you really believe that any given preacher gets more satisfaction out of his job than you or I? I certainly don't think so. I find my job satisfying in its own way. Quote
