Members phkrause Posted August 22, 2010 Members Posted August 22, 2010 On a flight to Florida, Mary was preparing notes for one of the parent education seminars she conducted. The elderly Jewish woman named Rivka sitting next to Mary explained that she was returning to Miami after having spent two weeks in New York visiting her 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Then Rivka inquired what Mary did for a living. Mary told her that she was an educational psychologist, fully expecting Rivka to question her for free professional advice. Instead Rivka sat back and said, "OK. If there's anything you want to know, just ask me." Dr. Shane Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Cute story. Of course the great-grandmother's knowledge is mostly anecdotal. The psychologist's knowledge is mostly academic. When the psychologist is a great-grandmother that is when she will really have some wisdom. Of course, like the old Johnny Cash songs goes, "When I've learned enough to really live, I'll be old enough to die." Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
