Dr. Shane Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Consumers Dropping Pay TV Services Quote: The number of subscribers to cable, satellite and telecom TV services in the U.S. fell for the first time ever in the second quarter, according to research firm SNL Kagan. The U.S. multichannel TV market lost 216,000 customers last quarter, vs. a gain of 378,000 a year ago. The total number of subscribers to cable, satellite and telecom video fell to 100.1 million in the second quarter, SNL Kagan says. Cable TV firms lost 711,000 subscribers last quarter, while satellite and telecom TV services managed to add 81,000 and 414,000 subscribers, respectively. Of course Adventists that get Glorystar quickly learn they don't need anything else. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
GreatLakesGramma Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 No surprise. A lot of people are cutting back on everything they can, because either their income is down or they're afraid they may lose their jobs. Moderators Gerr Posted August 25, 2010 Moderators Posted August 25, 2010 I've reduced the number of channels I subscribe to via satellite not only to reduce cost, but also because I'm watching less and less. Quote

SivartM Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Hulu! It's a much cheaper way to keep up with my few TV shows instead of buying a TV and cable service. GreatLakesGramma Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I get all the news I need on the internet. So do I. My son watches the TV shows he likes on Hulu. I've watched a few there myself, but for the most part, TV doesn't interest me. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26.
