Why do so many Christians, including some Adventists, trash the other Abrahamic faiths (Judaism and Islam)? You'd think that three religions descended from the same person would be able to get along better. The whole Islam thing is kind of obvious; they're all evil terrorists who want to kill your children (or so I gather). But Christianity is really just a big sect of Judaism (even if neither Jews nor Christians think of it that way), yet a lot of Christians will avoid anything Jewish (Jewish Sabbath, Jewish laws, Jewish holidays) and think that Jews are all legalists, and if you keep Jewish holidays or study the Torah or what have you you're a legalist too. It's really weird. All three religions are so similar. Each accepts the earlier religion(s) as fellow worshipers of the true God. But they can't seem to get along for some reason.

Anyway, just a rant... what do you all think?

You make a very good point Sivart. The Jews and the Arabs are cousins, but you'd never know it. They've been at each other ever since Isaac and Ishamel, that will never change. :(

As far as Jews and Christians are concerned! If not for the Jews there would be no Christians. The Jews dislike Christians because if you study history, Christians have always blamed Jews for the death of Jesus, and done many horrible things to Jews. Also one of the reasons we have Sunday worship. After Jesus died and the disciples started to make believers out of many Jews to the fact that Jesus was the Messiah, and converting many Gentiles to what was called the way and that time, they were still worshiping on the Sabbath. But as time went by and those that were worshiping on Sabbath were being persecuted with the Jews, they started worshiping on Sunday to not be associated with the Jews. While your going to Andrews you should go to the library and oick up the book "From Sabbath to Sunday" by Samuele Bacchiocchi. He has the history of how this took place. Also read the book by Marvin R. Wilson, "Our Father Abraham", it talks about the Jewish roots of Christianity. There's another book by a French Jew, but I can't find it right now and his name escapes me at the moment, but its about the same thing as Wilson's book but probably better.

Why Christians are not open to what Jewish people do, is hard to understand. But the Jewish people, I would believe, feel that Ishmael's descendents are just illegitimate to start with!

Another point of view is, that Islam isn't what it started out as. I believe that the Ishmaelites were a lot closer to the Israelites way of thinking*, up and until they allowed a false prophet to infiltrate their religion. That is when a huge separation began. Plus everything Pkrause said.

*I say this because, Ishmael knew his father and ways of worship until he and his mother were driven out of the camp. Even after Ishmael started to become a great nation himself, Isaac's camp and his camp intermarried. And when Abraham died, both Ishmael and Isaac came together to bury him.

I wonder if that's the sort of thing Jews could say about Christians?

I don't know, but Jesus wasn't a false anything, whereas Muhammad is a false prophet.

Good observation Sivart, and they do. But its all based on Jesus.

Sure there are Jews that do believe that Jesus is the Messiah and they are also disliked very much. Most if not all my family on my Father's side do not talk or communicate with me and my brother. The Jews dislike for Christians, like I said is based on, our blaming them for the death of Jesus. Also if you go to Jewish forums they have much distain of our translations of the Bible. They believe we've distorted there Torah.

And as far as being more like the Israelites! Not sure that's accurate. Don't forget Ishmael married into the canaanite people that were living in the area, which God asked them not to do. This is how paganism got into there religion. Much like Christian allowed pagan customs to be brought in.
