Woody Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Yes, on the Hope Channel's 'Really Living' ... they are interviewing a woman who helps delievering babies. A nurse midwife. She says that she has 11 year old mothers who bring their pacifiers and dolls to the delievery room. They suck on the pacifiers during child birth. If they don't suck on pacifiers ... they suck their thumbs. She had 5 of these 11 year olds during the span of two months. What is this world coming to? Moderators John317 Posted September 19, 2010 Moderators Posted September 19, 2010 From what country or countries and how did these girls become pregnant-- rape or grown men or young boys? Is this a new thing they're seeing or is it just something that has always happened but that they're just beginning to acknowlege and talk about in public? Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Woody Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 I'm sorry I don't have all of the answers to your questions. I could be wrong ... but what I gathered ... this was not anything new. I'm not sure that it is even getting worse. I did not get the feeling it was from rape. It appeared rather common place for this RN/midwife. And I am rather sure it was somewhere in the US. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted September 20, 2010 Members Posted September 20, 2010 Wow really sad what's happening in this world. :( Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Sorry I can't be more helpful. Isn't this spreading of hysteria? Isn't this gossip? Isn't this just the most ignorant thing passed upon our people? There is no context here...You are not sure where or what or who is doing this? You only know that it is being done. This piece plays well with your emotions and NO intellect....This could be some specialised hospital for children or some intercity hospital or even ONE midwife's perspective....You don't know...only that it is being done...no context...nothing.... Just what are we trying to prove here??? Whose ego are we feeding? I can't help but feel that this is some cheap shot at feeding a posters ego... [see, See, I got it out first! Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted September 20, 2010 Members Posted September 20, 2010 attack on Woody. When I was working in the ER about 8 years ago, parents brought in their 10 yr old daughter who complained of abdominal pain. She was very obese. The RN took her into one of the exam rooms and got her changed into a gown, then came out and told us she thought the girl was in labor. The patient was immediately transported up to OB where she delivered a healthy full-term baby. The patient had not known she was pregnant. The parents didn't know either because their daughter was so obese to begin with. They were in shock. The girl said she didn't know how she got pregnant. The physician in the ER told me that he'd seen this happen before, but not as a common occurrence. btw, this all happened in a suburban middle class setting in the US. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Woody Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks Rudywoofs. Yes, it truly IS an issue. We can't put our heads in the sand on this one. It is true that I only reported the parts that I heard and remembered from the Hope Channel interview. I suppose those really interested could get more info from the Hope Channel. But I suspect some just prefer to make a big scene and remain ignorant. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted September 22, 2010 Members Posted September 22, 2010 So Woody what is there to do? This girl obviously got pregnant, she can say she doesn't know but that seems strange to me. If people don't want any help you can't force it on them either. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 I don't see the girl that Rudywoofs talked about .... refusing or not wanting help. I see her as just being too young and not having factual information. Providing information and education to these young mothers ought to be something we as a community could do. I fear some ... even here on this thread .... are too fearful to have a discussion regarding sex. And that is particularly evident when it comes to sharing the topic of sex with preteens.
