Administrators Gail Posted September 30, 2010 Administrators Posted September 30, 2010 One of my favourite Bible verses which I have committed to memory. It is SO powerful to me!! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted September 30, 2010 Members Posted September 30, 2010 I kind of have a problem with that verse... I've had people use it against me if I was having a panic attack - They'd tell me that I obviously did not have God in my life, because if I did then I wouldn't be panicking. (Otherwise, I think it's a really good verse!) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Administrators Gail Posted September 30, 2010 Administrators Posted September 30, 2010 Pam, if you had this verse in your heart and it "hit the spot", it might work in a anxiety attack. I rather think, though, that if the attack is coming on then your medication is probably more in order. I don't believe for a moment that God is not in your life! Some people think that if we believed properly that we wouldn't get sick at all. But life is life. We are mortals and until Jesus comes there will always be death and sin to contend with. I rather see this verse as being useful at OTHER times, for example when you are learning and thinking about the various causes of the anxiety, and meditating on what God is saying to you. When you seek God and keep seeking Him and learning this and other Scripture, they will be helpful to your soul in the process. To expect the process of healing to happen instantly seems a bit much to expect of a person. We are ALL a work in progress. You might find that your healing is more of a walk than you'd like, but God does things in His own way in His own time. AND He can use you every step of the way. One day I hope that you never have another panic attack!! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
teresaq Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 hmmm, those people dont appear to know about when demons can hit...or are in denial... that verse and its "cousin" have been helping me lately when fear tries to take over because of certain circumstances...peace comes when i start meditating on them... (perfect love casts out fear...) Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790

I know most comment how they get bashed over the head with EGW out of context quotes, but we can do the same with the Bible, I think that hurts even more. LifeHiscost Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 One day I hope that you never have another panic attack!! And I believe that, according to God's promises Gail, we can see that happen. And Pam can enter the remedy given if she chooses. "“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you."Matthew 18:18 NLT To strengthen the promise we also have this one to rely upon. "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." 3 John 1:2 NKJV As I recall, the last time I asked with someone on this forum, for someone to benefit from our mutual prayer for their prosperity, they became a worldwide singing sensation. And as long as we're asking ( Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.)John 16:23, someone I know is making an effort to prosper in a business for the major purpose of being made capable of supporting the many Christian concerns for which they receive requests monetarily. I'm satisfied that some requests, especially for material benefits, are withheld from some since it would be a hazard to their spiritual wellbeing. But to refuse to ask because that might be the case, seems counter productive to exercising the very reason God puts the personal appeal to ask. "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” "Matthew 21:22 NKJV As for me and my house; "Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:" Philippians 4:11 NKJV And as one sage put it; "If I'm going to be miserable, I would rather be miserably rich than miserably poor." Makes sense to me. God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
