Guest Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 And Walk In It Those who, while having all the light of truth flashing upon their souls, should have works corresponding to their avowed faith, but are allured by sin, setting up idols in their hearts, corrupting their souls before God, and polluting those who unite with them in sin, will have their names blotted out of the book of life, and be left in midnight darkness, having no oil in their vessels with their lamps. “Unto you that fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings.” {TM 445} There is a heaven before us, a crown of life to win. But to the overcomer only is the reward given. He who gains heaven must be clothed with the robe of righteousness. “Every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” In the character of Christ there was no discord of any kind. And this must be our experience. Our lives must be controlled by the principles that controlled His life.— {Ms 28, 1886 quoted in SD 8} Quote
Guest Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 In freeing our souls from the bondage of sin, God has wrought for us a deliverance greater than that of the Hebrews at the Red Sea. Like the Hebrew host, we should praise the Lord with heart and soul and voice for His "wonderful works to the children of men." Those who dwell upon God's great mercies, and are not unmindful of His lesser gifts, will put on the girdle of gladness and make melody in their hearts to the Lord. The daily blessings that we receive from the hand of God, and above all else the death of Jesus to bring happiness and heaven within our reach, should be a theme for constant gratitude. . . . {CC 93.4} Quote
Musicman1228 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. John 12:35. Jesus is saying that He is the light, and His disciples need to what with Him lest they be left in darkness. Jesus is the light of the world. Yet if we walk in the world we will be left in darkness. Action must be taken, and that action is walking and abiding in the words and teachings of Jesus Christ. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been carried out in God.” John 3:21. Since Jesus IS the light in order to come to Him you must DO what is True. The DOING comes before the 'coming to', as it were. And that DOING is abiding in the words of Jesus. In other words, we prove to Jesus that we want to be with Him by first DOING (works) the truth and THEN we can come to Him. Quote
