teresaq Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 what if we addressed anothers thoughts without an argumentative and combative spirit? what if we said, i see it this way, i believe, anything along those lines instead? what if we accurately represented anothers thoughts instead of misrepresenting them? please add to the list... would we still be able to have any kind of discussions? or is the only way to keep a discussion going to have a jerry springer atmosphere? what if a person joined really wanting to know what sdas were like, do we give an accurate picture? teresaq Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 what if we didnt need to be an authority? what if we didnt need to be "right"? what if we didnt need to defend the church, its beliefs, its doctrines? will heaven be so boring without all this? Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 12, 2010 Members Posted October 12, 2010 what if a forum didn't have double standards? what if a forum didn't have controversy? would the forum still attract as many viewers? Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
WayneV Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 What if we loved each other with God's agape` love? Quote WayneV Just remember these words of warning, for they will come to pass all too soon: If you are ever flying through the desert and your canoe breaks down, remember that it takes three pancakes to lift the doghouse, because there ain't nary a bone in ice cream!
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 12, 2010 Members Posted October 12, 2010 ...that won't happen until heaven... Woody Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Excellent Thread teresa. Great Questions. I wish I had answers. I wish I wasn't so pessimistic. Guess I've been on this forum too long. I liked the description about the Jerry Springer atmosphere. For I think you have accurately described the atmosphere here when sincere posters try to ask questions that are on their hearts. They get eaten up in the "Jerry Springer" atmosphere. Sad but True. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Twilight Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Maybe we should endeavour to look in our own hearts first, before cutting someone else open with a scalpel marked: "Not to be used on the user"? ------------------ Maybe we should deal with our own sins, rather than concentrate on those very same sins in everyone else? :-) Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Twilight Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 It is so easy to condemn others, but so hard to see our own behaviour that we condemn others for, which is usually worse than their perceived poor behaviour. Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
teresaq Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 i should have worded this, "what if we didnt need to defend the church, its beliefs, its doctrines?" to read, what if we didnt need to defend the church, its beliefs, its doctrines at the expense of others? what if we modeled the behavior we would like seen? or do we? Woody Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I think we spend more time defending the doctrines .... than we do talking about JESUS. Wonder what that means? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Perhaps we need to spend a thoughtful hour each day on the life of Christ. ??? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
teresaq Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 great woody!! how about putting that in a "what if..."? :) Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790
Woody Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Yes. What IF we DID? !!! Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Okay. I will answer it. I suspect that we would see delightful changes on this board. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted October 12, 2010 Administrators Posted October 12, 2010 I would LOVE to see more folks living like Jesus and talking about doctrines as the Bible speaks to me. I hope that is an original thought, but maybe it isn't! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Ellen Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Our pastor has drilled into us that we can't change another person, the only one you can change is yourself. Pondering this has put a new perspective on the problems we encounter in others. Only they can change themselves. I guess we could get them to want to change somehow. So what if we saw ourselves as others see us. Quote
D. Allan Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Your pastor has uttered a profound truth. So what if we saw ourselves as others see us? We might discover that they think WE could benefit by changing. Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
