Obama Says “There is No Such Thing As Shovel Ready Job”

By Lonely Conservative

Now he tells us.

NYT: In the magazine article, Mr. Obama reflects on his presidency, admitting that he let himself look too much like “the same old tax-and-spend Democrat,” realized too late that “there’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects” and perhaps should have “let the Republicans insist on the tax cuts” in the stimulus.

Just Google “Obama stimulus shovel ready 2009” for all the mentions of “shovel ready” jobs when Obama was pushing Porkulus down our throats.

He racked up massive debt for future generations to pay back. He told us the money was going to shovel ready projects. He failed. We can’t get the money back. And now he tells us there’s no such thing as shove ready? And he wonders why people are mad?

We have a lot of shovel-ready jobs down here. The problem is that the Senate cut them all out of the stimulus bill. These are school projects that were scheduled to be built. The plans have been drawn up but the projects were shelved due to decreased revenues and bonds not passing. If they get funded, they are ready to go out to bid. Shovels could literally be breaking ground in 30 days.

Maybe you should ask Obama what it is exactly that happened to the shovel ready jobs.

You mean a democratic Senate is responsible for there not being any "shovel jobs"?

What on earth will Obama do for the next two years after election.

Obama: no shovel-ready projects, should have let Republicans cut taxes

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010 | NY Times - President Obama Looks Forward — and Back:

Quote:

Obama looks to the old tried and true?? Obama didn't let himself look like the old tax and spend democrat. He is the template for it.

If there is so many "shovel ready jobs" where on earth was this man looking?

I don't believe he just now realiized there wasn't any shovel ready jobs.He knew that while handing out tons of money for silly social programs. If in any way he could blame someone else for this he would. This is first time it seems with his tanking with the american people that he hasn't found someone else to blame for the lack of "shovel ready jobs".I have faith tho,he will

His biggest problem is realizing he has lost many of his slavish, adoring, drooling fans.

When it comes to the paycheck to feed your family most have that as a priority, not Obama;s pretty words

When Obama took office in January, 2009 plenty of people argued that tax cuts would work better and faster than than the pork in the stimulus package (links below). Now even Obama agrees.

One reason the stimulus was so slow to create jobs was because of federal regulations.

The Energy Department’s massive Weatherization Assistance Program was subjected to the Davis-Bacon requirements for the first time because of the stimulus rules after previously being exempt. The agency, however, could not allocate funds to state and local governments for the program until the Labor Department determined the prevailing wages for weatherization workers in each county nationwide — a task that was not completed until Sept. 3, 2009.

By the end of 2009, only 9,100 of a planned 593,000 homes had been weatherized using stimulus funds, according to GAO.

Tax cuts would have stimulated business, which isn’t subject to the same government red tape. Obama’s belief in the government as the solution to all problems misled him.

Previously

Tax cuts may work better than spending to stimulate the economy

Stimulate with tax cuts, not spending

It has appeared to me that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have been driving the legislative agenda much more than President Obama. One has to remember that Reid and Pelosi are career politicians and Obama is still wet-behind-the-ears. Obama hardly had the time to get our of diapers in the Senate before become President and he has been on a learning curve. I feel optimistic that with a Republican Congress Obama is going to get things going and we will all be singing Happy Days Are Here Again.

It is tempting to say "What a joke". But is is not a joke,Poor Obama is a victim of Pelosi and Reid.Shane has found another victim, none other than the most brillant man to win the White House.

Maybe the excuses should stop and responsibility taken by the one in charge. It would be astounding to know that for the very first time Obama took responsibility for something.

GP, I'm not agreeing with anyone nor not agreeing, but I just came back from driving through, Mass, Conn, NY, NJ, Del, Maryland, Vir, NC, SC, Georgia and FL and I've never seen so much construction on the roads and new building's going up in many years of driving down to Florida and back. Now I personally have no idea what is meant by "shovel jobs" but from the looks of it there was much digging and shoveling going on. If many just don't want to see that, that's there problem.

One of the problems is that the stimulus money primarily went only to Democratic districts. So if you elected a Republican to Congress, too bad. No stimulus for you.
