Adventist Review That seems to be a prophetic utterance... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Musicman1228 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 I think if we will just look at what Jesus said about what will occur during the end of time, and then incorporate that in with what is in Daniel and Revelation I believe we will be able to understand what will 'shortly take place', and whether there is any need for an 'end-time prophet'. The first thing we MUST understand is WHO Jesus was speaking too In Rev. 1:1-3, because then we will know who this information that the Father gave Jesus, and Jesus gave His angel, and the angel gave to John, is actually for. Was it meant for everyone, or was it meant for a specific group of people? Quote

Musicman1228 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Richard, You are one of the reasons I left this forum. You just don't get it and then you make it personal. This is not about me or anyone I know, and it never has been. I have asked a legitimate question and I expected a legitimate answer. But instead of receiving the respect of that answer I received the disrespect of an evasion. This tells me a lot about who you are and your real relationship with Jesus Christ and the truth. Quote
Guest Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I could have sworn you left because you were banned. Hmmmmmm. At any rate, you seem to be back. I think I have missed you..... Quote
Guest Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 And yes, I do get it. You three believe that God has chosen you to show the "real truth" to. Nevermind that it involves tearing down the pillars that the adventist church was founded on. By God, no less. If you don't believe it was set up by God, then you shouldn't call yourself an adventist. Because that's what adventists believe. Nothing personal, just matter of fact. Quote
Moderators John317 Posted October 17, 2010 Moderators Posted October 17, 2010 "We become a non-prophet organization when we assume that God has nothing more to say." - Steve Daily ... Adventist Review I think most SDAs realize and acknowlege that God has much more to say. The only questions are what would that be, and how can we be sure if it God's message or the message from another source? Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Moderators John317 Posted October 17, 2010 Moderators Posted October 17, 2010 Hi, Musicman. A sincere welcome back to Club Adventist Forum. Can I ask you to explain what you mean? You have said Richard is wrong in what he said. Could you explain it and show how Richard is wrong? Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Moderators John317 Posted October 17, 2010 Moderators Posted October 17, 2010 ....The first thing we MUST understand is WHO Jesus was speaking too In Rev. 1:1-3, because then we will know who this information that the Father gave Jesus, and Jesus gave His angel, and the angel gave to John, is actually for. Was it meant for everyone, or was it meant for a specific group of people? What is your answer? I believe that Rev. 1: 1-3 shows that the book of Revelation was inspired by God for all believers from the time of John the Beloved to the end of time. But it was especially written for those who live just before Christ returns. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Musicman1228 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 John317, Thanks, it's nice to be back. I didn't say that Richard was wrong I said he didn't answer my question, and instead went into the personal. I thought we were over that. As to my point in asking the question; Rev 1:1-3 defines clearly who the information in Revelation is addressed to; it is for the Bondservants of Jesus Christ. And you are correct when you said that it is for those at the end of time. However, it does not appear to be for just anyone. Revelation IS NOT about who Jesus is, as many believe. It IS about information about the time of the end that will affect 'those that dwell on the earth' at that time. According to the text Jesus received information from His Father that He previously did not have; to wit, WHEN He was to return to get His bride. He gives this information to His Bondservant so that they can prepare the servants of the bride (ref. bridesmaids in Matt.25:1-13), so that they can prepare the bride for the coming of the Bridegroom. Therefore, the information contained in Revelation is for a specific group of people, and that group is the Bondservants of the Bridegroom, that give the cry at midnight that awakens the sleeping bridesmaids. This is NOT everyone on earth. It is only for those in the Kingdom of Heaven that are awake at the time the Bridegroom returns during the dark of (prophetic) night (the coming as a thief). This coming happens when all 10 of the bridesmaids are sound asleep, and is not the coming in the clouds. The bridesmaids ARE NOT the bride (the world). The only ones that are not asleep are the Faithful and Wise Bondservant and his fellow bondservants (ref. Matt.24:42-51), and it is to these people, the 144,000, to whom Revelation is addressed. Does that make sense? And if not please tell me why. Quote
Moderators John317 Posted October 17, 2010 Moderators Posted October 17, 2010 Basically, yes, it does make sense. Thanks for that reply. I'd like read it several more times and think on it and also hear more of how you apply the details. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Musicman1228 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Of course, I will be happy to discuss any of this with you. As a preamble to that I would like to point out that one of the problems with interpreting prophecy is that for many Christians the purpose of prophecy is to develop a greater spiritual sense of awareness and purpose, it is not primarily to understand the process and timing of the restoration of the Kingdom of Heaven. To these wonderful people prophecy is only given for the purpose of learning how to love Jesus more effectively by growing spiritually. I can completely understand their motivation, which is admirable. Yet, if this was God's only desire for us in giving prophecy then it really became quite counterproductive for Him, having to hide these spiritual meanings inside the meanings of the symbols and numbers. That is just confusing, and God is not the god of confusion. My point is that prophecy has much deeper meaning than 'merely' (I use that word advisedly) for our spiritual development. God must have meant for us to actually be able to decipher and understand what these prophecies would mean for those that are going to live through those events in the near future. To do THAT effectively we must look at prophecy as being LITERAL in nature and scope, and not just spiritual. When God speaks of bridesmaids and a bride, bondservants and an un-numbered multitude we must understand the these are real people and not just symbols of a mythical quality. A 'beast' is a very real temporal or religious authority and not at all like the pictures we have been shown that scared us as children (with teeth, fangs, multiple horns and crowns). Every symbol has a direct and knowable real life meaning that applies literally to the events and timing that are described. As symbol NEVER means another symbol, and a given time always has a literal application. With this concept as the basis for study I think anyone can find the meaning of the end time prophecies for themselves, because if that was impossible then Jesus lied when He told His disciples that the Holy Spirit would lead them and us into ALL truth. We know that Jesus cannot lie, therefore we know we can find all of the answers we seek, in truth. Again, does this make any kind of sense? Quote
