Woody Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 There was some super music just on the Hope Channel. Great spirit. A set of drums and a piano player who actually was doing some head bobbing. And the singers who gyrated their hips. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Paula Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 lol.. I remember once my husband was able to bring David Meece (composer of We are The Reason, My Fathers Chair and other great CCM songs) to our church. He just used the piano, and his voice... and his foot which he would bang to the beat on our hollow and very noisy floor... needless to say HE ROCKED IT!!! We loved it!! But a few of the more conservative folks walked out.. lol This was about 14 years ago... that same church now has drums guitars, bass, violin, flutes keyboards, and a rockin service every week... time sure changes things... lol Quote
Woody Posted October 16, 2010 Author Posted October 16, 2010 lol ... yes time does change things and praise God it does. We need to be foremost in changing our methods to adapt also. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted October 16, 2010 Members Posted October 16, 2010 That reminds me of the early 70s or late 60s. I was visiting AUC and the Wedgewood Trio, as they were known than, sang for vesper's and a number of people walked out. I personally don't believe it has anythiing to do with being conservative or liberal! Because if I remember correctly a few of each left. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

And some in the right left also. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators lazarus Posted October 17, 2010 Moderators Posted October 17, 2010 Great spirit. A set of drums and a piano player who actually was doing some head bobbing. And the singers who gyrated their hips. Wow! Drums and gyrating hips is a recipe for trouble. Hope's days are numbered. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein
Dr. Shane Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Hopefully, all of our days are numbered. We need to be relevant to the society we live in. I would like to see more church have a cafe-style ministry. Remodel or build an addition to resemble a coffee shop environment. Of course we would not want to serve coffee but use it to promote our health message and warm interaction. This setting makes a great place for Bible study, men's ministries, women's ministries and youth ministries. I have seen this be very successful in evangelical churches. Woody Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 I agree with both of you Laz and Shane. A good coffee type setting along with the gyrating hips would make a good combination. And throw in the head bobbing and you have perfection. PTL :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Twilight Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Maybe we should have a seance as well. Would go lovely with all that music... Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
Woody Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 A few candles would not be bad. But I wouldn't go as far as having a seance. Perhaps I am more conservative than the average bear though. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
