Doug Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I pretty much work with all guys and stuff is brought up that I used to find interesting but now I have problems with it. Now I will admit I have probably said or joined in a conversation that an SDA shouldn't have participated in. For example I am shocked to know that a lot of men at work cheat on their wives, many have a lady friend on the side. One guy even told me that if a certain attractive celeb offered herself to him he would have to cheat on his wife. This person is always checking out other girls at work and telling me what he would do to them. Dude what is the point of even getting married then? Quote

I'm sure these kind of guys would change their tune pretty fast if they found out their wife was doing the same thing to them with a boyfriend on the side...good old double standard is still alive and well. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 31, 2010 Members Posted October 31, 2010 What's even worse is when a male co-worker says those things to a female co-worker. That's happened to me. And if I said anything negative about it, I would get told that I was a prude and ruining their fun. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Doug Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 There are a whole lot of guys who shouldn't have got married in the first place. Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted October 31, 2010 Moderators Posted October 31, 2010 Are you married yourself, Doug? I've tended to find that I don't need to speak out against bad marriage because I speak out so enthusiastically about my good marriage. People know what I stand for, so I don't end up having to proclaim what I won't stand for... Quote Truth is important

But I really think that if I got married I wouldn't want to cheat on my wife. Quote

What's as bad is, I knew some guys that had real double standards. It was OK for them to have sex before getting married but God forbid if they found out that so had the girl they were going to marry. They would only marry a virgin, would have nothing to do with one that had been with someone else. Dr. Shane Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Being single I think it is more difficult to tactfully avoid such conversations. Like, Bravus, I talk about how much I love my wife. I once had a woman "friend" ask me to take her to a motel for a fling during the day (so nobody would find out) and I told her the problem is that my wife demands so much sex from me that I can't perform for anyone else. She got the message that I wasn't on the market. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted November 1, 2010 Moderators Posted November 1, 2010 I couldn't resist. Had to reply, but only to correct the typo in the Subject line. Sorry. [Actually, I don't seem to have the same type of friends you fellows do, anyway.] Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
