Christopher Hitchens diagnosed with cancer

Christopher Hitchens, the famous atheist (we sell 2 DVDs with him debating in favour of atheism as opposed to Christianity) has a metastasized esophagal cancer. He is documenting his travel through "Tumourtown" in Vanity Fair, where he is a contributing editor.

Listening to his comments on Youtube I get the feeling that he is not so different than many people living today. Looking at his health situation in an intellectual way, void of faith, reminded me of people I know.

Are you familiar with him? What are your thoughts? Are you among those who pray for him or are you one of the many who would tell him personally that he is going to hell?

How does one reach such a mindset? Or should we try?

No I don't know him, there is no need to reach, you do what you can and leave it to the HS. Prayer is what he needs for one reason or the other. Don't we all anyway. :)

Thanks for the links cardw. They were very interesting. If I were not a Christian, I pray that I would be like him. Actually he's more of what I would think a Christian should act like than a lot of Christian's that are dieing. He doesn't even have a hope of life eternal, but almost acts like he does. There are people claiming to be Christians and yet act as if there is no hope beyond the grave.

No one actually knows where he is, as he would find it difficult to let his pride admit a change of mind, even if it were so.

There might be a redeeming word from the Lord of glory as God still loves him despite his protestations.

OTOH,

And again, since we don't really know where he's at, the safest place to leave him is in the Lord's hands.

Yes, he is a great writer and a very intelligent man.

With a child dying from starvation every 6 seconds, why should your god answer my prayers?

Needless to say, I'm no Christian so I probably view Mr.Hitchens in a different way. I do encourage every Christian to watch his debates on youtube, they will make you see things in a different way.
