Administrators Gail Posted March 15, 2005 Administrators Posted March 15, 2005 Anyone do these? I find them (usually) to be of a more thought-provoking nature than the typical fare Any favourites? One of mine is "Jesus of Montreal" Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Moderators Bravus Posted March 15, 2005 Moderators Posted March 15, 2005 Yay for Canadian films! Quote Truth is important
Pockey Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Some I like: Shiri Battle Royale Pi Brothers McMullen Run Lola Run Rushmore Donnie Darko Quote
Administrators Gail Posted March 15, 2005 Author Administrators Posted March 15, 2005 I thought that Amélie was charming Goodbye Lenin was good, too Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Pockey Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 I liked Amelie too. Visually really beautiful! I'm curious to check out A Very Long Engagement. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted March 15, 2005 Author Administrators Posted March 15, 2005 Oh, talking about visually beautiful- many foreign films have AWESOME scenery shots! I've seen some GREAT landscapes from Greenland, Tibet and Mongolia Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted March 15, 2005 Moderators Posted March 15, 2005 I rarely get out to a movie. but a few days ago i saw a new 'indie' which was purely, sweetly a good story. "Off the Map." Set in New Mexico, with lots of scenic shots. A delightful child actress and a touching story -- dealing with hardship without portraying a lot of tear-jerker attitude. Or rather, maybe I should have said a lot of falsely emotional attitude. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
Pockey Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Hero with Jet Li has some great cinematography. Oo La La! Quote

Moderators LynnDel Posted March 16, 2005 Moderators Posted March 16, 2005 One of my daughters likes Napoleon Dynamite. It's a kick. The first time I saw it, it seemed confusing because "what goes around" doesn't "come around" in this flick. The second time I saw it, I laughed myself into a stomach ache. Some of the scenes may have special significance for anyone who has attended SDA boarding schools (e.g. singing with hand motions) - brings back memories, anyway. Conclusion: Watch it twice. David_McQueen Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 I personally think that for thought provoking film the French Industry is miles ahead of any competition. Quote Firstborn Ministries: Spoken and written word, without apology
Administrators Gail Posted April 8, 2005 Author Administrators Posted April 8, 2005 Just saw Napoleon Dynamite- what a riot This is one of those comedies similar to Office Space, which again provides your classic stereotypes Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
