doug yowell Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 I agree with you about the need of having more women in positions of leadership roles in the church, but women can preach and teach that way without being the pastor or elder of the church. In other words, it isn't necessary to be an ordained pastor or leader to preach the truth. Who's fooling who here,John?Everytime the request for the ordination of women is rejected by the world church the NAD or one of the local conferences,simply changes the language and attempts to gain access to the title by gaining access to the responsibilities first. Once the church compromises on the access to the Biblical responsibilities of an elder the ordination proponents simply argue that since they're already doing the work it is an injustice to forbid them the title.NAD's track record speaks for itself,and the hope that their opponents grow weary never diminishes. Dr. Shane Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 There is no reason not to ordain female pastors but as long as the world church doesn't want to move forward on that, commissioned females should be given all the rights and opportunities as ordained pastors withing the divisions they serve. There is a certain level of respect and responsibility that comes with this church-given status. A female MD or PhD simply is not the same as an ordained or commissioned minister. Members abelisle Posted November 9, 2010 Members Posted November 9, 2010 -bump- since no one responded to my earlier questions, here they are "again" -Will the GC approve with our new President who is strongly against female ordination even though this move doesn't openly espouse such an action? -Will the commissioned people get the same salary as the ordained ones? -Is this and will it be the opening move for female ordination in the NAD and how will it affect Ted's power base in the third world countries? -Does this relatively bold action by our new NAD President point toward a possible organizational restructuring for more efficiency and better fiscal management? Right now we have too many layers of church government, I feel. -Lastly, are we going to merge our "black" conferences into the geographical areas they reside in here in the NAD? Example: NYC has both Greater NY Conference and Northeastern Conference. Both are essentially minority dominant and there was a publicly stated concern by the Atlantic Union President that the work for "whites" is sorely lacking and must be addressed. What Woody is referring to is this line from Doug Batchelor's sermon about women in ministry: Quote: ...By the way, the word seminary comes from the same word as semen. I would guess DB said this to plant the idea that only seed bearers should go to the place of seeds where they get qualified to be the seed planters of the church. That would be consistent with the notion in Mosaic law that a eunuch could not serve as priest. So a modern day application of this would suggest that men who have had a vasectomy should not be qualified for ministry because they are no longer able to be seed planters. Perhaps a fertility test is in order before we ordain ministers. This could also be used as a means of selecting leadership - those with the highest sperm count are the most qualified to be church leaders. The importance and significance of fertility in Biblical times is a point of common ground the Israelites shared with their pagan neighbors that elevated fertility rituals in their pagan temple worship.
