Shirley Evelyn R. Smith, 76

MILLS RIVER: Shirley Evelyn Rose Smith. 76, of Mills River, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at her residence.

She was a daughter of the late Ada A. Rose.

Before her retirement in 1996, she was a registered nurse. She was a tutor at Blue Ridge Literacy Council. She always enjoyed crafts. She was a member of the Mills River Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard J. Smith; one son, Richard B. Smith, and wife, Lori, of Pisgah Forest and one granddaughter, Christina Smith.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
