SivartM Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 http://www.spectrummagazine.org/blog/2010/11/18/after-annual-council Quote: Gone was the strategic plan of Reach Up, Reach Out, Reach Across that had been announced a year previously. In its place was Revival and Reformation, rewriting Fundamental Belief #6. Am I understanding this correctly? Did they change the plan from "Reach Up, Reach Out, Reach Across" to "Revival and Reformation"? So our entire course for the next five years is changed? Regardless of what was announced at GC? Here is the list of initiatives for this plan: http://news.adventist.org/images/12%20Initiatives.pdf Why do we have to work ourselves into a "revival revival revival revival" frenzy? Why not just let God work in his time, and spend our time helping others like he asked us to a thousand times? We have dozens of books on "revival and reformation". I think that "Reach Up, Reach Out, and Reach Across" made a lot more sense. "Revival and Reformation" is about me being sanctified and holy, invoking images of pious saints kneeling in church with tongues of fire over their heads. The former is about how I will relate to God, other Christians, and the rest of the world. It is so much more mission-focused. "Revival and Reformation"'s idea of mission is sending "The Great Controversy" to everyone. Well, okay, cool... but it's mostly about us. Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted November 21, 2010 Moderators Posted November 21, 2010 Thank you, Siv, for posting this. I hadn't heard about this until today. I fear for the future of our church when the president feels he must depose any leader who doesn't agree with him, and must change all the plans which he didn't author. But we will survive. God is in charge, above all. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
Moderators John317 Posted November 21, 2010 Moderators Posted November 21, 2010 .. It is so much more mission-focused. "Revival and Reformation"'s idea of mission is sending "The Great Controversy" to everyone. Well, okay, cool... but it's mostly about us. How do you figure that the book, Great Controversy, is about us? Seventh day Adventists who know the truth that is in The Great Controversy but reject it or ignore it-- refusing to put those truths into practice in their lives-- will eventually be rejected by God, and their place will be taken by people who hear it and receive it. There are millions of Seventh day Adventists who know what it says but despise it. Many others don't know what it says and don't evidently care to study it to find out. Some do hear it and receive it and want to study it, but they are often discouraged from it by other SDAs. And the few who do accept it are often ridiculed by the many who don't. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
