Dr. Shane Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 A few (or maybe more) of my Facebook friends that are Adventists are frequently posting anti-Catholic links on their walls. Don't these people have Catholic friends? I don't get what the point is of pasting links like that. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Moderators John317 Posted November 21, 2010 Moderators Posted November 21, 2010 Are they anti-CAtholic in terms of people and individuals or in terms of doctrine? There should never be attacks on persons and it should always be clear that they are talking about doctrine and the system, not about the people in the Catholic Church. God loves Catholic people the same as He loves SDAs. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Dr. Shane Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 I don't take issue with the content of the links. However if I were to post them on my wall, I have a number of friends that would de-friend me. I don't think I would reach anyone that way. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators John317 Posted November 21, 2010 Moderators Posted November 21, 2010 I agree. I make no such posts. It's the same way with a Mormon man I've been in contact with for the last 3 years. We talk about religion and the Bible, as well as the Book of Mormon, and while he realizes I don't accept those books, our communciations are always with mutual respect and thoughtfulness. He doesn't post anti-SDA things and I don't post anti-Mormon things. If either of us did, it would no doubt ruin our friendship and cause him not to even look further into what SDAs believe. As it is, he is reading some things written by SDAs on the Investigative Judgment. Bad judgments in posting could change his attitude and make him less likely to consider anything by SDAs. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Planey Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Yep. Depends on your motive for posting. I tend to believe those who post anti- anything do it to show other Adventists just how noble and religiusly patriotic they are. Others (like John317) are seeking to influence their readers and win them to Christ.
