fccool Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 There are 450,000 Churches in US. Let's say that average attendance is 50 people, and each gives $10 week on average. That's 11.3 billion dollars annually. Now I know that this number is WAY off. Mormon church alone (2%) collects 4 billion yearly. So it's safe to assume that the total religious donations per year would be around 200 billion. That would be half of total revenues of Walmart corporation (globally). Adventists alone collect 2 billion dollars yearly. Now, let's have some perspective here: GDP of Somalia is $2.7 Billion yearly. Quarter of Somali children will die of starvation and preventable diseases by age of 5. Nearly 1 in 4 people in the world live on less than $1 / day, and nearly half struggle to survive on $2 / day. Our church spends $4000/month as a comfort fee locally... on a building that's really only used 4-5 times a week, and who knows how much on the conference level as a comfort fee to come and join and sing how great God is and then other man teaching us how to survive through our "spiritual struggles" and "suffering for the Lord". Do any of you see ANYTHING wrong with this? Quote
