Dr. Shane Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Ex-House Leader DeLay Found Guilty in Texas Case After 19 hours of deliberation, a jury of six men and six women decided that Mr. DeLay was guilty of conspiring with two associates in 2002 to circumvent a state law against corporate contributions to political campaigns. He was convicted of one charge of money laundering and one charge of conspiracy to commit money laundering. As the verdict was read, Mr. DeLay, 63, sat stone-faced at the defense table. Then he rose, turned, smiled and hugged his wife and then his weeping daughter in the first row of spectators. He faces between 5 and 99 years in prison, though the judge may choose probation. A few minutes later, Mr. DeLay said outside the courtroom that he would appeal the decision. He called the prosecution a political vendetta by Democrats in the local district attorney’s office, and revenge for his role in orchestrating the 2003 redrawing of Congressional districts to elect more Republicans. Dr. Shane Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 I was hoping we would at least get an apology. He disgraced Republicans. He disgraced Congress. AND HE DISGRACED TEXAS!!! All we get is blame the Democrats. What a pathetic man! He needs our prayers. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

All we get is blame the Democrats. What a pathetic man! He needs our prayers. If Delay is planning on an appeal what would you suggest he apologize for?Obviously the appeal is because he is either innocent or wants to appear that way. Maybe if Rangel,Barney Frank and a couple of others that have truly disgraced the democrats if possible lead the way Delay will follow suit if guilty Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Dr. Shane Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 Delay is guilty. The facts are not even in dispute. The application of the law is what he is appealing. The reason he doesn't apologize is because he is playing the "poor-me" victim card. He wants to make himself into being a victim of the mean Democrats. I hope he dies in prison. If he were to apologize and repent I wouldn't feel that way but men like "The Hammer" need to be made humble. Prison might do that for him. He might even become saved there. Some people like victims.Didn't the DOJ drop the investigation saying there was nothing there. If I remember hearing correctly some of what Delay did was being judged by current laws instead of what was law at the time. You don't realy know why he does not apoloize. He would sound a bit silly then filing a appeal and touting his innocence Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Dr. Shane Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 The statue he violated was passed in 1903. It prohibits corporations from giving money directly or indirectly to political candidates. Delay thought he was above that law and now he will pay. Hopefully he will sit in prison the rest of his days and die in disgrace. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

He certainly can't do that and die in disgrace at the same time. If he is guilty he should serve out his time. What would be nice is if the many holding democraitc offic could be his cell mates. I agree 100% Bonnie Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

This statement I agree and disagree with. Why everything has to dumpted(sp) on one party excapes me, both parties should be held responsible period. There are many on either side of the aisle that are just as guilty but have not as of yet been caught, or somehow weaseled there way out. I said democrat because of the venom in Shane's post.Hoping Delay dies in disgrace in prison. Do a little search and see how many democrats have evaded taxes and abused their office. Rangel "forgot" to pay taxes on rental income for 17 years. You think a republican would not be hung out to dry.How many tax cheats does it take to get attention. Wasn't it Stevens from Alaska? that was caught supposedly offering sex in a men's bathroom. What a to do. barney Frank admitted to paying for sex from a male acquaintance, received a mild finger slap. A prostitute ring was being run out of his basement and poor barney was oblivious. How many republicans would get by with that. If Delay is guilty he should be punished but 99 years.Pedophiles that destroy the heart and soul of a child do not receive that kind of punishment.Let it concern money and it can be 99 years Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Of course, it would be best if he repented like Charles Colson did. However, at this point in time he is playing the victim and shows no signs of repentance. Should he repent, I certainly would change my mind about him. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

Of course all those Democrats and every corrupt politician needs to be punished. But Rangel and Frank never had the trust placed in them that Delay did. If not for this scandal, Delay would be the new Speaker of the House come January. Neither Rangel nor Frank have ever been close to becoming Speaker. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 I kind of go by Jesus' words, "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." I wouldn't be afraid to bet a look at a few financial statements would reflect much is given. There is nothing in that ,that says only those that may become speaker should obey the rules. Dr. Shane Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 That said, Barney Frank's sins really have nothing to do with Delay's. We can at least be glad and rejoice that one criminal is getting what he has coming. And we can pray that he finds Christ and repents. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 Well, my Sabbath lunch tasted a little bit better today knowing that, at least in Delay's corner of the world, justice is alive. Politicians that give Texas a bad name need to be spanked and put to bed early. Hmmmmm, [scratches head] I wonder what time is lights out where Tom is going. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
