What image do you present?

I heard the following on the radio from Dr. Cook (some of you might know of him?):

"When God looks at you through the critical lens of Jesus Christ, what does your image look like?"

Makes one think, doesn't it? Is my image quite blurry or crystal clear? One thing for sure - none of us is perfect.

He added a little anecdote about a man who declared in a prayer meeting that he hadn't sinned in 40 years when a voice rose up from the back, "Be careful John, I'm here." It was his wife. bwink

I always thought that when God looks at the believer through the critical lens of Jesus Christ, He sees Jesus Christ.

I have to agree. I would add that if it was God looking at us directly it wouldn't be a pretty picture no matter when he looks at us. But if looking through Jesus I believe he sees perfection. Or like LynnDel says he sees his Son.

It depends. Here is another critical lens:

ESV | Re 3:14 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation. 15 “ ‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. 19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
