Mission Diary

I am truly not trying to toot my own horn, because I'm a rather private person, but the GC Mission Awareness Website has asked me to keep a diary for a month on the life of a missionary family in Hong Kong. They're hoping to continue this with other missionaries, a month at a time. If you are interested, it's at Adventist Mission Site . Click on the map at the top right corner, and then on March in the life of a Missionary. I don't upload it, just send the articles to them. I'm hoping that a friend of mine will be the next missionary to write--he's awesome!

Also, if you have comments on the diary concept or any other feature of the site, email the webmaster. They are looking to make the site as relevant as possible to the world church for local church use and raising mission awareness worldwide.

It is great reading with good illustrations Michelle, the powers that are must have been aware of your talents when they asked you.

My mother kept a lot of the letters I wrote when we were in Karachi Pakistan, in the 70's. It has been interesting reading them again. There are always two kinds of mission stories, the ones suitable for the Mission Quarterly and the ones that are not

Nan--I was thinking about this later. My mom kept the letters I sent when we were working in China 11 years ago, and I've gone back and read some of them. What is more revealing, personally, is to reread my personal journal. Difficult to read through some of the struggles we went through.

What were you doing in Pakistan? Sounds very interesting. Have you ever written about it?

People have asked me to write about China, but I'm quite reluctant to, as it could compromise people. That's something that will just have to be word of mouth, for now, anyway. frown.gif

My then husband and I went to Karachi Adventist Hospital as very green doctors and were there from 1974-1978. I worked in OB and acquired a number of children along the way. There was a large number of expatriates there in those days - which made the transition for us easier, but probably stopped us getting to know the Pakistani workers as well as we should have.

I did not keep a journal so have only the letters to look back on, and not all those are available. I have not written about it - if I did it would be strictly for personal/family perusal
