Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 11, 2010 Members Posted December 11, 2010 BOYCOTT AMAZON! Why? They aren't selling the e-book. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Neil D Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Joshua Rhett Miller is not a professional journalist. Why... why .....WHY do we listen to those whose primary purpose in life is to stir up controversy and contention??? When are we, as noble human beings [read that as "children of the King of the Universe"], going to learn to ignore that which is sensational and knee jerk react to all these sensational stories??? Why do we want to become agents of satan and bring these stories to upset others??? Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Tammy Posted December 11, 2010 Author Posted December 11, 2010 Why? The only reason Amazon took the book down is because there was such an uproar...they still think they should be selling it. I have done alot of business with Amazon, and they actually called me this past week, to offer me a promotion...and I told them I was leaving Amazon and why....they acknowledged that all I said was true. They will sell anything, they don't care how immoral it is. Is that the kind of place Christians should patronize? I don't think so.... Members phkrause Posted December 11, 2010 Members Posted December 11, 2010 In that case Tammy why don't we boycott all bookstore's for selling all types of [censored]. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
SivartM Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Perhaps we should boycott the internet. Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." - Jesus
GreatLakesGramma Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 In that case Tammy why don't we boycott all bookstore's for selling all types of [censored]. It's true. The only kind of bookstore you can shop at that won't sell those kinds of books are Christian bookstores, but there are a LOT of good and useful books that Christian bookstores don't sell. If you wanted a book on any number of topics other than something related to Christianity, you would be completely out of luck. Even places where you get can buy and sell used books, like Half.com and Alibris, probably don't exclude those kinds of books either. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Moderators Bravus Posted December 11, 2010 Moderators Posted December 11, 2010 And on *more* point. A boycott usually has a specific goal: using the fear of lost sales to force the target company to do something or stop doing something. But Amazon has *already* taken down that pedophile book. What would be the goal of a boycott now? Quote Truth is important
Administrators Gail Posted December 12, 2010 Administrators Posted December 12, 2010 There are a couple of things you, as a consumer, can do. First of all, as you did, you can notify the company and complain. If people don't complain the company won't know why the customers aren't patronizing their outlet any more. Where I work I am happy to listen to complaints because it shows where a customer's headspace is at. Sometimes I can help with their issue, and if I can't do anything about it because it is out of my jurisdiction, I am still aware of the customers' mindsets. Secondly, you can put your dollars elsewhere. As GreatLakesGramma mentioned, you can ignore those items that you cannot conscientiously support. If there is anything a retailer doesn't like on his shelf, it's a product that doesn't sell. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
