Neil D Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Having drove my 3 children around to various school functions and various activities, I have overheard many an explanation for various things.... one day, as we were going to some school function, my children were in awe of the fire trucks driving past us...there were many "cool" and "awesome" statements...and we saw a dalmation on one of the trucks.....Answers ensued as to what the dog was used for....there was the "he's there for crowd control"...and "he obviously chases the cats away from the fire" and possibly "rescues the cats"....but all answers subcomed to the final reason as to why the fire department uses dalmations....."He finds the fire hydrants." Dr. Shane Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Cute. The real reason is because fire wagons use to be pulled by horses and horses get spooked by fire and all the commotion. A dalmatian is able to keep the horses calm so that is why the firemen would always take them along to the fires. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
