Dr. Shane Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Thanks for posting this. I had to drive 4 hours up north to San Antonio today and saw TXDOT is building a guardrail in the middle of the ditch between the northbound and southbound lanes. I though that was odd as the ditch must be over 100 feet wide but I bet it is too prevent texters from crossing over into oncoming traffic. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Overaged Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Thats really interesting that you mentioned that Shane; they are doing the same thing on certain major hiways here too. I wondered about it and thought it was a bit odd; but that could be why it is being done. If I know anyone has texted me while they are driving; I make it a point to give em heck! Moderators LynnDel Posted December 29, 2010 Moderators Posted December 29, 2010 Another reason for a center guardrail is to prevent highway U-turns. I saw someone make the attempt here this week. The grass in between looked so innocent, but rains made the soil boggy, and the tires were spinning ineffectually. The CHP was right on the job. The offender probably had to be towed out of the mud.
