Do you know how we can get copies? I'd especially like to hear Herbert Douglass on the emerging church apostasy. Moderators lazarus Posted January 12, 2011 Moderators Posted January 12, 2011 Hey Laz. Last time we spoke you were defending McClaren's book. Wasn't he the author that you quoted regarding his comments on the Amish? Maybe disciple is too strong a word. Stay cool nonetheless. Tom actually put your quotes in context which gave a clearer and more balanced meaning to McClaren's words. You might be confused about who was saying what. My point is this; there is nothing wrong with being critical of this or that movement but let it be substantive and based on clear evidence. The nature of your previous criticism of McClaren's book was shown to be a result of taking his words out of context. You said "more later" in response to Tom and I. There was no more later. Here we are again with a wholesale condemnation and I think caricature of the Emerging church movement. Your response is to accuse me of being a disciple and then say you "tremble" for me. Whats up with that? Let me re-post what Gail said Quote: On Friday I was speaking with one of our Conference people and he said that he had found a book on this type of spirituality that read very similarly to Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing. He did not detect any of the signs that the "anti" books were warning against. I would love to hear more examples that show a balanced view of what is good about it. I just can't believe that our pastors would support a Eucharistic Christ or meditation trances. Most pastors would not accept a Eucharistic Christ or meditation trances. Again people take the most extreme examples and brand the movement using the most extreme examples. Many of the books I have read and ideas I have used from the merging church movement have been biblical and are supported by the writings of EGW. Here are some of the so called Emerging church books I read in 2010. Come back churches The Present Future House United Breaking the Missional Code The Externally Focused church Break-out churches I don't agree with everything in these books but the same can be said for the SDA books I have read. Herb is a dear man, who is legitimately concerned with the "Omega" emerging church deceptions. Hearts and lives are being swallowed up with these errors, and at the same time people are repenting and turning back to God from the broken cisterns of the world. g Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

olger Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 It's ok OA. There will always be those who defend error. I appreciate your desire to remain faithful to truth. The emerging church mysticism has been revealed as a virulent deception, and those of us who care about truth can stay away from it. Like you I share a concern that pastors who are feeding on it will export the stuff to their people. I'd like to end with some good news "Truth is stronger than error, and right will prevail over wrong." gcw Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
