Stan Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 We join with many across the United States in extending our deepest sympathy and prayers for those who were victimized by the tragic shooting in Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday, January 8. These shootings are yet another illustration of the fact that we are living in dangerous times. Let’s continue to pray for the families of those who were slain, for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and for those who along with her are battling for their lives. Let us unite our thoughts and prayers with all people during these solemn hours. - Pastor Dan Jackson, president of the 1.1 million-member Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com

LifeHiscost Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Yes these are some crazy times and just gonna get worse. It also shows that anything sets people off and at any time. Praise God for a Lord Who is willing to fulfill His promises to those who lean on Him. "Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands " so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”" Psalms 91 NLT God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Moderators John317 Posted January 9, 2011 Moderators Posted January 9, 2011 Yes, you're right. One thing we all need to remember is that as SDAs, we shouldn't get involved in political controversies but stay focussed on the job God has set for us, which is the proclaim the Three Angels Messages and prepare for Christ's return. The only way to do that is to allow Christ to form His character within us and share the Good News with others. I think Satan would like nothing more than for SDAs to get side-tracked into political discussions and arguments and taking sides. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

LifeHiscost Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Thank you, Richard, for saying that. I make no claim other than this, God blesses! , which BTW, eliminates me from at least one forum on here as all comments including both the original post, originated from another, and "God blesses", which my daughter introduced to me and seems to fit whatever subject is being presented and by whoever is posting. "“Son of man, give your people this message: The righteous behavior of righteous people will not save them if they turn to sin, nor will the wicked behavior of wicked people destroy them if they repent and turn from their sins." Ezekiel 33:12 NLT "Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!” Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”" Luke 19:8-10 NLT God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

Guest arnie Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Proclaiming the Gospel and preparing for Christ's return are definitly our priorities. Does that mean we should we not be involved in the political processes of our time? My testimony is not only should we discuss current issues but support the people that affect the ones worthy to succeed. We are obligated to be contributers to the political system in this country and maintain it's health. We live and dwell under the best system in the world, under a constitution that allows "freedom and justice for all". We live as free persons which allows us to freely speak of the good news of salvation without recourse. I have been an elected official and had the opportunity to serve in a capacity that helped to change the quality of the lives of many people. I feel it was a privilege to be a servant of the people and I thank Jesus that he allowed me this ominous opportunity. Do I get involved in the political process and get to know those who govern? You bet! Quote

Sympathy for the suffering has no political distinctions. Nor do the prayers of the righteous have any political requirements. Quote

I don't see this shooting as political. Just some crazy guy who hates this country and obviously didn't have God in his life.
