Austerity in America?

Austerity is a term from economics that describes a policy where nations reduce living standards, curtail development projects, and generally shift the revenue stream out of the physical economy, in order to satisfy the demands of creditors. Typically, private banks [Federal Reserve], or institutions like the International Monetary Fund (I.M.F.), will demand an "austerity policy" from a national government, as a condition for re-financing loans that are coming due. This might involve cutting food or fuel subsidies, underfunding public infrastructure (transport, education, health care, water and power management), or rationing. When these demands are made by the I.M.F., they are known as I.M.F. conditionalities.

I don't disagree, except for the slippery slope that austerity leads, which will be tyranny at the most terrible levels imaginable. I just hope we all have resources that will help us get through this "little time of trouble". Not only for ourselves but as a way to continue the work. The end of the world is not going to be pretty.

The supreme dictator will be allowed to try the "elect" to the uttermost, imagine not being of the "elect" and you can be sure you won't be!

Interesting article BSW. But no indication of our government having to give up there large salaries, or upping there retirement age to equal that of the rest of the citizens they say they represent. Its funny how all the states have to eliminate state government workers, pensions etc., but our Senators, Reps., continue milking the country dry as they sit on there duffs and pretty much do nothing. But of course we know this is gonna continue as the end approaches.

Interesting to note that it is not the wicked that are pointed out as being able to change the course of history.

The world has only been used to help those that fear and follow Christ (whether in the old or new dispensation) to recognize the power of lust. I thought of Psalms 79, of which I will share:

4For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.

For austerity to succeed we must be willing participants. If we as a Christian nation would stand up and say no to those that wish to be worshiped there is nothing under the heavens that could stop us.

This is the power of deception. We are actually being deceived (programmed) to think that evil is good and good evil. We are so set up for this oppression that we will not escape for sure, however we can prepare mentally, physically and spiritually to be able to battle the forces of evil by following our great example Christ Jesus.

That's not fair, pk. Not all government employees sit around and do nothing. Many of them attend to important state business like the recent dinner for China's premier Hu.

Actually, I don't think their salaries are that exorbitant, it's the perks! When Pelosi used to take an Air Force plane to to SF instead of a commercial airline, to me that's abuse of the highest order. And correct me if I'm wrong,a congressman may serve one term, but he is set for life nonetheless.

I agree, I hadn't heard about the one term, but won't doubt it.
