Is there something wrong here?

Was the police officer backed by some law when he insisted the camera be put away? If a person not involved in a crime, or even suspicion of one, can be arrested for disobeying any random order of a police officer, freedom is gone!

On the flip side of this though, is don't harrass the police. If the guy had stood across the street and filmed, the police probably wouldn't have done anything. But he started filming them just a few feet away, and the police was also backing him up out of their space. Then even though he was using his zoom, he was still inching forward to the detained man and the police.

If you harrass the police, yes they may say something stupid they are human after all; but they are also trying to do a very hard job and trying to maintain a level of safety for themselves and whoever it was they are detaining.

In a world where criminal activity borders closely on continuous effort to hinder the necessity of armed police officers, honest citizens will do everything they can to help honest police officers to protect the citizenry from malfeasance.

Until every citizen carries a deadly weapon legally, in order to protect themselves and others from criminal abuse, proper legal control to keep even negligible interference of those who have no need to be present, would be best allowed.

However if every one is honest in their effort to protect the society in which they wish to be safe, the more pictures the better so that when the film shows up in court, it will be decidedly seen who is guilty of exploitation at the innocent's expense.

This is simply another step in the erosion of civil rights. There are numerous cases where the filming of Police actions later bought to light the illegality of some law enforcement activities. It is in the interest of the Police to outlaw the filming of Police. When in a public place the public should be allowed to film the actions of the Police. They are to be held accountable by the people they serve. Rodney King's experience should teach us that.

Rodney King was coming down off a trip with hard drugs. Our civil rights are not always that civil. People expect to be treated with kid gloves by the police while having the freedom to carry lethal weapons in which more than one policeman gave their life to protect that freedom for the law abiding citizen.

Much like trying to control the terrorist who looks exactly like every other law abiding citizen, those unwilling to give the police some slack, deserve the inconvenience of having their house invaded, their car smashed into and totaled, their life taken by a drugged or drunken driver, and their favorite woman/man assaulted so that they won't be inconvenienced by the police.

While it's been some time since I was on the force, and even back then there were some bad apples that had no compassion for anyone under their control, I would far rather join the company of the police willing to give their life for me, than to depend on the person who has sold their family and friends out for another hit or is willing to blow a cop away because he/she is trying to hide a lethal weapon or illegal drug.

What we see now on many of the streets of American society is a direct result of the description below.

"Already the restraining Spirit of God is being withdrawn from the world. Hurricanes, storms, tempests, fire and flood, disasters by sea and land, follow each other in quick succession. Science seeks to explain all these. The signs thickening around us, telling of the near approach of the Son of God, are attributed to any other than the true cause. Men cannot discern the sentinel angels restraining the four winds that they may not blow until the servants of God are sealed; but when God shall bid his angels loose the winds, there will be such a scene of strife as no pen can picture." {HM, November 1, 1893 par. 13}

"The important future is before us. To meet its trials and temptations, and to perform its duties, will require great faith and perseverance. But we may triumph gloriously; for all Heaven is interested in our welfare, and awaits our demand upon its wisdom and strength." {HM, November 1, 1893 par. 14} Bold above mine LHC

I'm not sure what you are saying here. Are you saying that the treatment of Rodney King was justified?

From what I saw of the clip, I don't necessarily see anything to be proud of were I among the police officers. Depending on where you get your information there was a great deal just prior to the clip shown that was cut out which revealed a very large recalcitrant person who failed to submit to the commands given him by the officers involved in the episode.

Far too many people sit in their comfy easy chair at home, watching circumstances on the boob tube, having little idea of what led up to them, and sit in judgement of the events as if they had a clue.

Cops are not angels, but I've found when you put your life on the line consistently every day, to people who would just as soon see you dead as give you the time of day, it can be expected if your one of the partys who doesn't like to submit to a command from anyone, let alone an obnoxious officer who believes he has the law on his side when putting people in their proper order, it isn't surprising there will be some lumps that can cause a great deal of unhappiness.

Soon the world will see, total pervasive chaos and anarchy, that will have developed from life without law. It will be then that those who present themselves as Christians now, will be afforded the opportunity to reveal who they really are when there is no plurality of law and order to keep them safe.

"Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of vanity,

And sin as if with a cart rope;

That say, “Let Him make speed and hasten His work,

That we may see it;

And let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come,

That we may know it.”

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;

Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;

Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,

And prudent in their own sight!

Woe to men mighty at drinking wine,

Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,

Who justify the wicked for a bribe,

And take away justice from the righteous man!"

Isaiah 5:18-23 NKJV

They didn't just rough him up a little bit. They didn't just verbally abuse him a little. I could understand the above response for those kind of actions.

56 baton blows and six kicks are actions that two of the offers were rightly jailed for.

IMHO it doesn't look like the camera person was interfering at all. At most the officer was just irritated at being filmed.
