Jesus didn't meet my needs for yesterday, but for today.

He didn't meet my needs for the future but for today.

And since I've never been anywhere in time except in today, nor do I expect ever to be in yesterday, nor in tomorrow where I've never been anyway, Jesus meets me where I am, today, and that's all I'll ever need.

Praise God, all I have to do is live successfully today, and Jesus promises He'll provide for that. We have His Word on that.

It's something He'll do for any and all, if that is what we want. But He'll only do it now. Can you name any time that His promises are fulfilling if their not fulfilling now.

"For God says,“At just the right time, I heard you.On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation."

2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT

Thank you.

You're welcome, Stan. He said it and I believe it. At one time when I was still enslaved by unbelief, even if I had heard it I wouldn't have believed it probably. OTOH, when someone reminded me that Jesus wanted to be my Friend, I began to see the joy in accepting Him as my best Friend, so now I try to introduce Him to everybody as the best Friend they could possibly have.

"I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me."

John 15:15 NLT

Sometimes my best Friend has to speak to me with words of "tough love", which sometimes for the moment can be somewhat distressing, but He always sooner or later tells me why it was best.

And if one doesn't feel worthy to be His friend, remember Jesus even called Judas friend in the middle of his act of betrayal.

2 Corinthians 6:2

... behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Hebrews 3:13

But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Hebrews 3:15

While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

I was thinking about "today" the other day, too. But my thoughts had more to do with asking God for power over sin in my life today.

If I had to think about my sinful past, I would be overwhelmed, although I do have recollections of times where the Lord has helped me and that is uplifting.

If I think about the future and the daunting prospect of facing the future and will I prove faithful or walk in His ways, etc. that can be discouraging. Thus my hope is in God.

That may be why Jesus told us to be concerned only with today, for "sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matthew 6:34

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
