karl Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 We've all done things that have an impact on the world. Perhaps not as newsworthy as Steve Jobs, but significant nevertheless. People who drag themselves out of bed and go to work five or six days a week are the backbone of the world. You could take all the talking heads and the sports stars and lock them up and the world would go on quite nicely. But if the average working men and women don't do their nine to fives regularly, things come to a halt. Today's "entitlement" culture is doing its best to break the backbone of the workforce which actually does the work in civilized countries, but hopefully the conservative swing brought on by international financial woes will bring a little relief. Hollywood and the society crowd who consider themselves the "movers and shakers" make fun of all us hayseeds, but the world can't get along without us. It can get along without them. Quote
fccool Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 If it wasn't for Steve Jobs, most would still be doing dos, or at best windows 95, and rebooting every few minutes I think this is sort of ridiculous, considering that Jobs stole Xerox interface, which Bill Gates subsequently lifted the ideas from Jobs to put together Windows. Either way you look at it, these guys were first, but it does not mean that there would not be likes or better ones considering the explosion in technology. These two only brought technology to your house, while before it was in your office. I hardly think that 9-6 workers make the world spin . For most of them, a guy/girl with an idea is the very reason they have jobs. Quote
