Administrators Gail Posted February 14, 2011 Administrators Posted February 14, 2011 Okay- here is something that happened to me one Valentines Day: The best, absolute BEST present I ever got for Valentine's Day did not come from a husband. I declare on here that it came from Jerry Rogers, member here, when we were both single. Now I had not been accustomed to receiving anything for VD, not even much in my first marriage. I got notification that there was a parcel waiting for me at our U.S. mailbox and could I pick it up. I got there and there was this great big box for me. I could not fit it into the trunk of my Miata, so in the front seat it went and over to the border. I declared a Valentine's gift and they hauled me in to Customs. There we opened it up and took out gift after gift. Teddy bear, candles, romantic CD, gel pens, chocolates... ALL SORTS of cool stuff. The customs officer asked me where it came from and a bit of information, and then said, YOu must really be somebody special! And away I went. I've never given nor been given any thing near to that since. Thank you, Jerry! I never forgot that! Fortunately we say 'I love you' in words and actions many times every day of the year, so in that sense Valentine's Day is just another day, albeit a reminder to count our blessings.
