Administrators Gail Posted March 1, 2011 Administrators Posted March 1, 2011 This came this morning from the federal government: Quote: Application of GST/HST to medical marihuana The Excise Tax Act contains provisions that zero-rate (tax at the rate of 0%) a broad range of drugs that are regulated under federal legislation. Federally-regulated consumer drugs are generally zero-rated if a prescription is required before they can be sold to a consumer. On the other hand, federally-regulated drugs that may be purchased by a consumer without a prescription are generally subject to GST/HST. Marihuana is regulated as a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). The Marihuana Medical Access Regulations, made under the CDSA, provide that dried marihuana may, for medical purposes, be sold without a prescription to a consumer who is the holder of an “authorization to possess”. Accordingly, dried marihuana that is purchased by a consumer in accordance with the Marihuana Medical Access Regulations is not acquired pursuant to a prescription and, therefore, is not zero-rated but subject to GST/HST at the applicable rate. I wonder if they are hoping that drug dealers will register with them. I'm not even sure where a person goes (with permit in hand) to buy his drugs. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Dottie Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I guess if you don't know where to buy it, either you don't want it or you don't "need" it. Quote
skyblue888 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I know you can buy it for medical purposes in B.C. I don't know about the other provinces. Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
