Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted March 21, 2011 Administrators Posted March 21, 2011 The quality of mercy is not strained, It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven, Upon the place beneath. It is twice blessed. It blesseth him that gives and him that takes. It is mightiest in the mightiest, It becomes the throned monarch better than his crown. Though justice be thy plea, consider this, That in the course of justice we all must see salvation, We all do pray for mercy. And that same prayer doth teach us all to render the deeds of mercy. --- Portia to Shylock in The Merchant of Venice, by William Shakespeare "I have always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice." ----- Abraham Lincoln "What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and love mercy, and walk humbly with thy God." -- Micah 6:8 "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." --- Jesus Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Dottie Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Abraham Lincoln lived his belief in mercy. I have read the story of a soldier who fell asleep on watch during the War Between the States. He was sentenced to be executed, but his mother went personally to see Lincoln. He either pardoned the soldier, or commuted his sentence. Living what we "believe" is more important than just "believing" it. Quote
