SAYING GRACE IN A Restaurant

Sometimes we forget the really important things in life.

>

> Last week, I took my grand-children to a restaurant.

> My six-year-old grand-son asked if he could say grace.

> As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even

> thank you more if Nana gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!"

> Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong

> Hearing this, my grand-son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?"

> As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him,

>

> an elderly gentleman approached the table.

> He winked at my grand-son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."

> "Really?" my grand-son asked.

> "Cross my heart," the man replied.

> Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole

> Naturally, I bought my grand-children ice cream at the end of the meal. My grand-son stared at his

But...

WHAT WOULD MRS WHITE SAY???

(foraging around for a quote which sets out in unmistakable terms just how evil ice-cream is...)

Well, OK, fat-free vegan soy ice cream with no added sugar then...

Considering the general population's propensity toward pigging out, I'm hazarding a guess, that failure is probably running a close second to stress as being the major cause of death in America. And knowing my own easily rationalized reason for including ice cream in my diet, I'd like to include the following defense.

"Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand."Philippians 4:5 KJV

I like the story, I don't see the ice cream, I see the loving act of a child in sharing his joy with another. :)

Thanks for posting that!

Does anybody else wonder of the story that started this thread is actually true or if it was just one of those made-up internet stories? I mean, we pray in restaurants all the time and no one around us has ever commented on our prayer. And I don't know how many kids would be giving ice cream away that they had prayed for.

Maybe it's just me. It is a cute story.

It has a good message, I'm not concerned with whether it's true or not. We do often see similiar stories on the internet, emails, etc. I try to find the message and usually tend to blow off the details of the "is it real" question.

Having said that, I am not likely to forward or pass on this particular story and represent it as "true" because I do not know, one way or the other. But it's still a nice story with a nice message.

Knickknacks are objects that you put on bookshelves, and snacks are items as listed that it would be better to avoid.

Oh well. What can one expect from a non-profit?
