Adventist Church Grows as Others Decline

I read about it in the Record. As always, the article doesn't tell the whole story. How many fell away? It should be new members minus members who left. A church employee working in Papau New Guinea told me the attrition rate there is 47% of new members in the first year.

epaminondas, that is a good question.

There is an exodus of about 200,000 adventist a year. AND plenty of anti-adventist and former adventist sites milk that fact.

BUT is that high?

NO, sad but still no.

We have over 1,000,000 people take their public stand for Christ, and on an average 20% leave. Which is an 80% retention rate. according to a Mormon report that was in the SLC tribune we have the highest retention rate, and over double what they have on a five year basis.

I'd like to see some stats on new converts that speak english and those that speak spanish. I'm thinking most of the new growth is among hispanics. Nothing wrong with that, I might add.

In our Conference we have about

11,000 members

7,500 or so attending each week

just under 500 baptized last year.

I think all but a dozen spoke English at their baptism.

WELL this is great news... PRAISE the LORD

it does seem that some ethic groups are growing

at a faster rate....

and the people from different countries are growing

It is great news if they are discipled properly

and they come in with a true love of God

It is not so good news if they are half converted

and bring Babylon in with them

But it seems like this discussion is an echo of another
